That's funny, the pens would say no and so would Sid.

Realistically, how much more would need to be added? At this stage of his career, he's not going to return major roster pieces. So I'm curious as to how much more you think it would take

Well for one there isn't a price because it would never happen. If it did he's only going to two teams, Montreal or Wherever MacKinnon is.

In this scenario to me there are just better prospects that the canes have than two guys in college currently + Drury.

There are, but Nikishin (the best defensive prospect in hockey right now) likely isn't going anywhere for someone in their mid 30s. Just because better prospects are in the Canes system doesn't mean Sid is worth them at this point. You could argue Nadeau, maybe instead of Blake if you want, but it's really semantics at that point.

That's the point though. The Pens have no desire to move Sid, so the only way Sid gets moved is if a team overpays. The Pens aren't going to negotiate a fair deal for all parties. If you want Sid, you give up the "best defensive prospect in hockey" + much more, or you don't get him. It's not about fair value when one party has no desire to move their asset.

No, you're not. If he was available (which is the point of this) you wouldn't be moving Nikishin, you would be trying to negotiate a fair deal. There's no one dumb enough to move a dude rewriting KHL record books for a very good player whose 36 and well and truly into the latter stages of his career.

Sid must realize his time is up on any future playoff success with Pittsburgh. If he wants another ring, he might be willing to waive his NMC. Way more likely that he just plays out his career with the Pens.

As for value wise, I can’t see Sid getting much more than what is being offered here at his age. 2 1sts, 2 2nds, top RHD prospect, high end W prospect, and a young 3C is quite a haul.
