Detroit's not trading Carter Mazur, And we're not trading William Wallinder unless we add one of Jakob Chychrun or Noah Hanifin extended. While i would love to add Buchnevich i doubt we move Mazur or Wallinder for him.

Sabres pass
Faulk isn’t what he used to be, and with his contract we probably aren’t interested
Surely won’t be giving up those guys to get him

This would be an example of Steve Yzerman running his franchise into the ground. 😬

Thay seems a bit overwrought. It's a lot, but he's got loads of good prospects all over. Not saying they'd do it or that they should, but it would be far from a death knell.

It would be extremely foolish for Yzerman to make this trade.

Foolish? Probably. Extremely foolish? Nah. Dealing from surplus for a legit 1st line player can be shrewd, too. But yeah, he'd be jumping the gun a little.

Nah.

Extremely foolish.

Ruining your future for a player who will be a rental next season.

Yzerman isn't a dummy. 🙄

Heh. Again, ruining their future is wildly overwrought. The Wings have good prospects falling out of their ears. There will not be room for every one of them. That's what makes it a surplus. For instance, piling up 6-7 good LD prospects is great, but they're not all going to play or even come of age with that team. There's just not room for all of them.

Not all prospects make it.

They may be highly touted now.

But history says only a select few of those prospects will be impactful NHL players.

You trade your surplus prospects.

Not your best ones.

Mazur probably is an NHL player next season.

Wallinder is a year or 2 away.

You're not trading these players for rentals.

History encompasses all teams and pools. Detroit has a significantly better pool than the average at this moment. History says the best prospects tend to succeed more than the rest by a large margin. Detroit has a laaarge cohort of top quality prospects. It's not any old average pool. But like I said, obviously it's a big price and a little too soon for such a gambit. It's just that they can afford more than just about any team, if not all of them.

Yzerman traded prospects in Tampa.

He'll do the same in Detroit.

But I'll bet big money it's not Mazur.

Wallinder only gets traded if they add Hanifin or Chychrun in my opinion.

Which is doubtful.

Mazur, I agree. I definitely think Wallinder could be dangled. He's good enough to get some good value in return, but also not one of their top top guys. But I was speaking more generally.
