Zegras trades

Created by: jpsnow13
Team: 2023-24 Anaheim Ducks
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 4, 2024
Published: Feb. 4, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Only comparable is Laine (and/or Dubois), which isn't very usefull: a young elite player with motivation issues for a young elite player with motivation issues.

As another top 10 traded recently, you could also argue that Zegras is worth close to twice Dach's cost (mid-1st+3rd) based on NHL production.

So IMO another problematic young player + a low 1st or 2x1st+2nd seems fair.

Don't start with none of those 3x1st (Gretzky price) or blue chip prospect.

(TRADES ARE FROM THE MOST TO LEAST APPEALING IMO)

        laugh Zegras isn't returning Askarov.

And no Trevor Zegras isn't returning no 2 1st and a 2nd round pick, Get real.

Knight and a 2026 1st round pick isn't getting the job done either. And Florida can't afford Zegras.

I wouldn’t do Askarov for Zegras, even 1 for 1.

I think that Zegras won’t gain as much interest from GMs as a lot of posts on this site think. Ultimately, that likely means he ends up staying in ANA. At least for next season.

Totally plausible. Injury doesn't help to move on quickly neither.

I do believe ANA is a motivated seller though. All those reports, zero denying by the GM. Money and risk management must be wispering in Verbeek's ear to act swiftly.

As for Askarov, Nashville was ready to trade him away with another 1st for Reinbacher. Tells me they don't value him that high. Trotz wants high end talent and doesnt seems afraid to pay for it.

Let's start with 'i don't like zegras' and even if the management somehow did like his play (even though he fits non of the boxes the current regime tend to look for) i wouldn't trade 2 1st rnd picks for him unless both have top 20 protection (yes...top 20)

Well the CGY one is missleading because of the complex condition rules. It will most likely be Florida's... so yeah probably both outside the top 20. I would take the risk without protection if it gets the deal done.

If he's willing to play defense and you substitute the 1st for a second and a prospect then I can see the Hurricanes jumping on this

I'll add the extra protection just in case, and still i think if the habs were to trade both this picks they better get a real hockey player in return

I don’t really understand the dislike for Zegras…he would be a fan favorite wherever he plays. And has more skill than all but a handful of players in league. He is easily worth all of these returns.

There was exaclty zero fact in your comment. 100% opinion.

Oh and Florida has $5,7M deadline capspace and $30M next season (see? Those are facts!), they can totally afford him.

Sorry Askorov > Zegras not opinion fact.

        2 1st + 2nd round pick > Zegras not opinion fact.

Florida has $30,000,000 to sign 13 players and Zegras eats $5,300,000 of that. Plus Zito wants to re-sign both Forsling and Montour and that eats close to $12,000,000 and Reinhart $9,500,000. laugh That's already nearly That's already nearly $26,000,000 with still 9 players left to sign. Get real i've already proven my point that Zegras is a luxury that Florida can't afford. And they've Lundell and other RFAs to sign as well.

You're dense dude. So baseless opinion, baseless opinion and baseless claim that Florida will resign all their UFA... Good talk.

Edit: Did you just argued Florida doesn't have capspace to afford Zegras 5M AAV BECAUSE they will resign Reinhart to $10M ?!?! What if I told you you just demonstrated instead how Florida can't afford to resign Reinhart and should look for a cheaper option...via trade....for a top 6 foward...like Zegras...? *brain explosion*

So a guy is useless defensively fits a defensive system better than someone who is elite defensively? Got it.

Are you really saying KK is "elite defensively"? Must be why Brind'Amour loves him so much on the 4th line !

As far as I can tell, they were attempting to get one of the top centers of the draft if they slipped to 5. That didn’t happen, so no deal.

NSH is very high on Askarov and he is currently having a great season in the AHL. They won’t give him away.
