Caps can probably get better than a 1st and a 4th by trading them separately, but I don't hate this. Maybe a prospect instead of the 4th? I dunno what the Avs system looks like

I think if COL is trading a first they need to be getting more than a bottom 6 rental and back up goalie, it’s just not a good use of assets imo.

It's probably not unfair value, but I think the Avs can use those assets more wisely.

Dowd is by definition not a rental. This is the bare minimum package for these two players. Lindgren could split starts 60/40 with Georgiev to keep him fresh for the playoffs both this year and next. Caps could get more by trading them separately.

I actually have a tough time with this one. Dowd does have one more year and, if the Avs are going to keep Joey around, they're going to need all the quality depth they can get. Lindgren could be a guy they want to keep around for a while; if he performs well, he could be the guy that follows Georgie when he leaves after next season. At this price, it's good value for two guys that have another year and the retention helps.

Any interest in a guy like Sean Behrens? Decent LHD prospect that is ready to move on from NCAA coming out a good program at Denver. Or someone like Oskar Olausson; former 1st round pick that could be a middle-six type RW?

I like Behrens a lot. If it was Dowd and Lindgren for that first and Behrens I don’t think caps fans could complain really but that’s just me.

My bad I missed that second year on the contract, still not a fan of trading 1st rd picks for bottom 6/back up goalies, but I get it.

A agree with the premise BUT, the Avs wasted their 2024 2nd on Eller last year and don't have another until 2026 plus they don't have much in the system that other teams would want but they also don't mind trading (Ritchie and Guly should be off the table; I think most Avs fans agree with that) so they're sort of stuck if they want to add quality depth. Plus, they can't afford top six guys except as rentals (which is something they typically don't do) so I feel like quality depth in the form of a real 4C with retention and a quality backup (that maybe, possibly could become a starter) at an affordable price is worth a 1st on balance.
