Leafs aren’t paying anything for Hanifin who will not resign with the leafs, zero rumours of Hanifin to the leafs for that reason if he’s traded it’ll be to Arizona Boston or NJ

You know extensions are just lazy CF fans fantasy.
I sure would like to see how the Leafs roster next season....when Tanev and Hanifan get 6m in raises (above this post), Matthews and Nylander 6m raises.

Even worse are these Tanev and Hanifan trades. Then when can't think of a reasonable trade, add extensions.

Hanifin isn't the answer. He's a top 4, not a top 2. If the Leafs are going to spend 7 million on a defenceman this offseason he has to be a right shot D, and someone better defensively than Hanifin.

Which is what he is here. I think McCabe on a cup team should be a 3rd pair also.

They can afford both actually. Leafs have a lot of cap flexibility this offseason. They would just not be able to resign Bert and they would need to go Woll and a 1.5m back up.

I don't know TB won 2 Cups with Jan Rutta as the top pair RD I mean granted the left was Hedman McDonagh and Sergachev

There are so so few "sign and trades" mid seasons that, it just silly fantasy to make trades on them
Why couldn't the Leafs just sign UFAs and keep their young assets.
