He's been relegated to 4C and hasn't had a point since January 11th

Ew, what the hell is this? WAY too much for Mitts, and burying KK is among the most stupid things I've ever seen on this site

It might be a little much but it's the one really glaring weakness on the roster... Morrow is ready for NHL minutes and Chatfield can handle a bigger role so it isn't that much of problem on the back end. KK isn't worthy of an NHL roster spot at this time and maybe some time in the AHL could help him get his confidence back

He's a 60-point guy on a miserable Sabers team who only 25... I think he could be our Ivan Barbashev

Chatfield is a problem when he's being babysat by Orlov, he should not be moved up the lineup. He's a positional nightmare. Morrow might be ready for NHL minutes, but replacing a DFD in Pesce with an OFD in Morrow is not a recipe for success, especially because Morrow won't sign until April or so when the NCAA season is over, meaning you have to run with an AHL defenseman in Chatfield in the top 4 for a prolonged period of time. No. That is not good enough for a team that wants to win the cup. There's a world where acquiring Mitts makes sense. Moving Pesce ain't it.

Chatfield is a problem when he's being babysat by Orlov... It's the other way around... Chatfield has proven in a small sample size that he's been good as a top 4 defenseman on his offside or did you forget about last year when he played with burns for a bit

If pesce would sign, this is the type of trade that makes sense with mittelstadt. Maybe even an overpay

Pesce for Mitts 1 for 1 maybe.

Burying kk is silly. He is generating more individual offense stats than Drury is. Drury is just riding necas for random assists

Orlov suddenly moved up to play with Skjei, and Skjei and Orlov are dominating games... Chatfield plays with DeAngelo and they sucks eggs. Chatfield needs to be babysat and he is not someone that can play larger minutes. If you want to use small sample sizes to justify things, why the hell are you burning KK who was scoring at a 60 point pace through the first 20 games? Stop it.

I'd rather give Pono a chance than keep riding KK who's proven he can't produce at an NHL level. Drury has better goals/60 and primary points/60 at 5v5 than KK does so it makes sense

KK hasn't scored in a month... like he hasn't done enough to keep a role on the team

Chatfield is better without Orlov than Orlov is without Chatfield

I mean it makes sense from both sides... your gm doesn't want to pay Mittelstadt and you have a need of a RHD and we need a 2C and we have a glut of RHD... like we have 3 top-4 quality RHD and it makes sense to move on from one to improve our big hole on our roster (except for goaltending)

Pesce and the 2nd would probably be more like it. But Pesce would need to have a Extension in place. Not trading Mitts for a few months. Is Morrow signed yet ?

No he's in the NCAA right now and I agree and Extension would have to be in place for Pesce at a minimum if not both him and Mitts

Well you still have control over Mitts, he can't just walk being a RFA

Yah that right but I'd honestly just prefer just that everybody gets reasonable extensions as part of the trade

Agreed! Morrow a Junior this year ? Is he just taking his time to sign or is something else happening. And not asking to start a fire. Just wondering.

Yah he's junior this year... there really hasn't been a space for him because of the fact of instability with the AHL affiliate but I think he'd be willing to sign if he has a role with the big club. Given the Hurricanes RHD depth, we can just shelter him until he's ready to take a larger role with the club

Are you worried if he goes back for his Senior Season without Signing ? That was the big worry with Ryan Johnson but he actually skipped a chance at FA and signed. I hate when College players get to there last year and haven't signed.

No not really... We own his rights until after Senior year is done so there would be a way for him to finish his college career as a senior and then join the club. It would just throw the next year into chaos if pesce isn't there. I would prefer that he does join the big club next year but it isn't a big deal if he doesn't

Yeah believe he has 30 days after his College career is over and then he can become a UFA.
