This doesn't even scratch the surface.

Taking on Campbell: Two 1sts
Cost of Ned: 2nd
Cost of Jake: 1st, A-Prospect and likely either a 2nd or decent young roster player

You aren't even in the same universe right now. This is a very Montreal fan AGM. We'll send you all our crap, give you just a couple of things and take all your good stuff.

I love how you think its EDM that says no. Maybe you missed him sneaking in Campbell which that alone would cost two first rounders.

Oilers say no. That’s too much to blow in one trade for a rental.

Oh yeah? How about him sneaking Campbell in there? You think it's EDM that says no? That's rich.

I'm not saying the Pens say yes either, they can get a much stronger return elsewhere. Campbell costs one first to dump, his buyout never surpasses 2.75 million and it stays under 1.75 million for 3 of the 5 years. That doesn't cost two firsts.

So then it would be Mcleod + broberg + 25'1st + 25'3rd for JG and AN. I don't want JG for his price, he's a super valuable asset it's just that Edmonton doesn't need another top 6 piece. He would only be a rental as well. Mcleod is also essentially an untouchable for this team so yeah

Who cares if Campbell is included. Only thing coming back of note is a top six forward for a few months. That doesn’t justify multiple firsts and two quality young players.

My thought was guentzel was worth broberg+1st+3rd
Clearing Campbell’s contract=1st
Ned=mccleod
Tbh tho I don’t see Pit bringing in another big goalie contract… unless we’re completely rebuilding and saying Blomqvist is the next guy and in that case we’d move Jarry out too…
So while I think the package is close to fair in value objectively, the fit isn’t the best overall…

Who cares of Campbell is included? Who cares that we are taking a horrible contract off your hands and not being compensated? Well, I care and so would any team that EDM tried to pawn Campbell of on.

Campbell is on the hook for three more years past this one and please don't pretend that $2.75M is a nothing caphit to take on a buyout. Buyouts are something GMs avoid at all costs, especially on teams that are at least ATTEMPTING to compete. He costs two firsts and that's not up for debate.

Fully agreed on the fit being bad for both sides, I'd say the pens could grab much more for JG over the package Edmonton is offering here so why even trade him to Edmonton? Also Mcleod is wayy too valuable to Edmonton to move for anything less than an overpayment. The trade just doesn't work to either side at all

Campbell is on the hook for THREE more years past this one. That's two firsts.

Actually I was wrong:

1st year: 1.1 Million
2nd year: 2.3 Million
3rd Year: 2.6 million
4th-6th year: 1.5 million

Most of this is against a 90+ million dollar cap btw, that costs maybe a 1st and a 3rd but not two 1sts.

Regardless, no GM(unless it's a team that's rebuilding and taking on bad contracts) is going to take on a player with the idea of buying them out. Still, it's gonna take 2 firsts. Just put yourself in the reverse scenario. Picture an AGM where MTL is sending you Josh Anderson lol

Lmao fair enough, I've seen enough ACGM's where habs fans expect a team to pay a 1st for Josh Anderson so I get where you're coming from.

I'd just rather Edmonton buyout Campbell rather than spend assets dumping him

Yeah and my guess is this year was the last straw for Campbell. I'd expect EDM to buy him when the window opens this off-season.

The oilers Jump at this deal and start a parade... not for winning the cup, but for actually getting something in return for Campbell.
