Description
Hope these are realistic. If they seem like minor overpays for the Avs i'd say they are.

I like Henrique but I like Frost more; i think what the Avs offer for either is the same, but for Henrique you get the necessary retention back. Philly gets a fringe NHLer and D prospect in return.

Avs should be after MAF, but if that doesn't work out, Kaapo is a great second choice.

Room for a 4C, but I don't know which one to pursue with the few assets remaining. Eller isn't a bad choice if Pittsburgh is selling.
Trades
1.
PHI
  1. Behrens, Sean [Reserve List]
  2. Meyers, Ben
  3. 2024 1st round pick (COL)
2.
SJS
  1. Olausson, Oskar
  2. 2025 3rd round pick (COL)
3.
COL
  1. 2025 5th round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
anything back; a low draft pick or a fringe AHL/ECHLer just so that it looks like the RyJo experiment isn't as bad for CMac as it actually was
MTL
  1. Johansen, Ryan
  2. 2026 2nd round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
Avs get out from under this contract, and the player drafted with the 2nd is unlikely to play during the cup window anyway

i figured. I addded more on the Avs' side than less assuming there is competition for Kaapo at the TDL.

I don't mind the first two, but I think Avs could get by without another G if they could just get consistent scoring. That said, trying on Kahkonen isn't the worst.

CMac should just take the loss on Ryjo, imo. Dump him for whatever you can get, even if it's a 7th rounder. Would hate to spend assets to get rid of him.

I think you might be able to get away with a 3rd to get rid of him, but i think it's going take at least a 3rd to move him. It might be the most toxic contract in the league rn.

i don't mind them either, hopefully frost could build into that 2C. With that being said and his age into account, does that make ritchie available for trade?
The only other thing is i'd hate to trade for kahnonen and then see him walk right after. I really don't see us resigning geo since his price tag will go up. If we are in talks for kahnonen i'd be asking to speak with him about how much his next cotranct would be. I'd hope it would be around the same since his numbers haven't went up but i think in our system he'd basically be another geo. So it would all be on the resigning amount for me haha because that would saolve the goalie problem for another 2/3 years

There are people offering deals on here including him which are at least palatable so it's possible they can move him but at this point he probably costs to move. I think that's a bit of an overpay on Kahkonen but not the worst if there is a bidding war, and the Frost trade is reasonable.

Ritchie > Behrens for the Avs rn. Avs will want an ELC player somewhere on their roster when it comes time to extend Makar & Rantanen. If Ritchie works out well, you go from having one of the weakest center depths in the league a top 10 one quickly. Or you move Colton to the wing and he tears it up there as a pure finisher rather than playmaker oh nooo

Ritchie should not be available. You can never have too many centers, or at least it would be fun for the Avs to finally have the problem of too many centers vs. always hunting for one.

Only thing that I would try to change is using a 4th rounder to get Kahkonen, and sending MTL that 3rd to take RyJo. I think we're really going to need that 2nd rounder in a future deadline.

Imo Ritchie is the one untouchable in the prospect pool draft picks. I’d rather trade 2 1st rd picks than include Ritchie in a trade. The guy was considered a top 10 prospect before his draft seasons started, he played it with a hurt shoulder that needed surgery and his play lagged because of it. He is back healthy and having a monster d+1 year which if your the Avs is exactly what you wanted to see when you picked him. If you have a guy that can be a legit middle 6 C for you on an elc you don’t ever give that up if your the Avs. The best part of his game is that he had a 200ft two way game before and now healthy he has upped his offensive output. But then again I’m a total sucker for center prospects especially given how hard it is to find one, and I was convinced Newhook was going to be the answer at 2C.

You mean like when they were rolling out Statsny, Duchene, ROR and MacKinnon

Yep. Those were the days! We've had strings of good luck with centers. Wish we could at least find serviceable ones on 2nd and 4th these days.

I would love to see how Behrens pans out, maybe Foudy or Malinski instead?

Yeah, so would any Avs fan. that's not going to get you the trade, though.

yeah yeah, same, but i leaned towards a bit overpay here rather than under. I think the 2nd is used this TDL. They've used the 2nd every TDL since the cup.
