Philly passes, no need for Barron. We already have too many 3rd pair with 2nd pair upside guys. We need centers.

3 1sts + for Stankoven and taking a cap dump?! No thanks, I wouldn't do Matheson straight up for those 2 Stars

why not? Savard doesnt give them a cup and it ruins their future as Liljegren is genuinely good

Fair enough, we have more than just Bonk. Attard, Andrae and a few others fit that mold as well.

I think the truth is somewhere in between. Stankoven has been very good in juniors and the AHL, but he is on the small side, which can make it difficult to succeed in the NHL.

I don’t think Stankoven has proven to be worth 3 first rounders by any means, but I think Dallas would reject a Matheson trade for Stankoven.

Honestly I am not sure there is a trade fit for him between Montreal and Dallas (maybe Matheson and Mesar).

I would be hesitant, though, for Montreal to take on another Caufield sized player. But I could be proven wrong in a few years. He could be the next Martin St. Louis!!

Nothing against Armia, but I don’t view him as an upgrade over our current options. Solid bottom liner, but I think Boston can get a better player for that salary

I have no doubt Stankoven is a great prospect, it isn't a question about his size or ability just right now, Matheson has more value. A proven NHL top 4 D man on pace for 50+ points on one of the worst teams in the league vs a former 2nd round pick who while playing well still wouldn't go top 10 in a redraft, I wouldn't be trading them 1 for 1 let alone swapping Evans for Faska and adding 2 1st round picks.

Matheson does not have more value than a future elite player. Over half his points are secondary or on the PP. Hes woeful defensively. Stankoven 100% goes top 10 in a 2021 redraft. This just shows you havent watched a second of him play and have Habs tinted glasses on

It hasnt happened recently since both teams were competitive then entire time. Its been at least 5 years years since a Habs -Bruins game felt important. Habs a rebuilding. There should be no reason to give a team a vet for a playoff run
