Not throwing in the towel at all? I added pieces. Didn’t sell at all. Just using our ton of cap space to add picks as well.

Can't remember the website, but they had a table that showed the value of pick for the amount of retention, and you'd only be looking at a 4th and 5th.

You’re not getting a 3rd RD Pick for Retaining $1.125mil on Tanev. Maybe a 6th or 7th RD Pick instead

Choosing to retain to help other teams instead of using that cap space to help your own team immediately (especially with such a big hole on the defense) is throwing in the towel. Adding in Englund doesn't fix that hole at all.

Canucks will give you a 5th. That's the value of $1M in extra retention, not a 3rd. If they do get Tanev it will most likely involve Myers going back the other way, so they probably won't need the extra retention anyways.

doubt that'd happen, his cap hit is $3M at 50% from PIT, pens will want a roster player back anyways.
