I'm not really a fan of any prospects from Edmonton at all.

I'd love to take him for multiple 1sts if rebuilding. Because he is probably the worst contract in the league and Edmonton desperately needs to get out from it.

EDM doesn't really need to move Campbell that bad, especially if we're giving up potential roster players (Broberg and Holloway) over the next 3 years.
Would still have an interest in Guent/Ned but at a more reasonable price.

Edmonton wont move multiple firsts just to move Campbell. They will just buy him out in the off season. the buyout is pretty small.

10.5 million over 6 years, Enjoy!!!!!

Best thing they can do is swallow like 2 mil of his cap and trade him to a team like SJS You break even cap wise compared to the buyout over the shorter 3 year term, and you offload the rest.

This trade is the literal embodiment of "all our bad players for your good players" and you want a more "reasonable price". Lmfao

A more reasonable price would have involved another 1st Round Pick going back to PIT.

Oilers decline. Too expensive to dump Campbell. We’ll just buy him out.

And the price on Guentzal is too high.

Broberg and Holloway are 2 cost effective players that EDM hopes to use during our 3 year cup run and are *likely* completely off the table for trades.
I didn't insinuate at all that Guent and Ned won't get a good return, my point is more so in that EDM won't be dumping Campbell unless it's a very reasonable cost that makes sense for our window.

We're pressed to the cap as is, cost effective assets (ex. Holloway, Foegs, Desh, ect.) are very valuable to us cause they fill our middle/bottom roles well at an effective cap hit.
Trading that to dump a contract we don't need to dump doesn't make sense for a team in "win now" mode.

10.5 million dollar buy out+3.8 mill this year.

That's 14+ million dollars your'e eating in dead cap.

to save 14 million dollars is worth more than 2 1sts.

Let alone getting guentzel

Guentzal is injured now. Oilers out of the Geuntzal market altogether.

He's due back the week of the trade deadline which means there is zero difference in his market value. Contenders aren't adding to make the playoffs. They're adding to be better while in the playoffs.

Zero difference? Of course there will be loss of value. He’s coming back from injury.

If you think NHL teams will give up less because he is injured right now, you have no idea how deadline deals work.
