Tanev's extension is projected to be 3 years @ $4.68M by AFP. You can probably get away with less term if you're willing to bump up the AAV. No way he's signing for 2 years @ $3.5M.

Jackets easily decline.
No to Sammy and definitely not moving tarasov, let alone Jenner going for that little return...

That would be such a disaster of a contract. I sure hope note. He is already 34. I am a big Tanev fan but this is the most I would do. If it's 3 years, I go 3m aav tops.

But you are probably right!

Sammy and Tarasov both have very little value. There are more of a cap move than anything. Also frees up Elvis to have more of the net next year.

Jenner for 1st + Minten (I view Jenner as Mintens best NHL comparable. 200 foot guy, really good leader, centre + LW. High end middle 6 potential). I think Minten + 1st for Jenner would be a very solid package for Jenner. At least a good foundation for a trade for him.

Could see tanev getting 5.5M x 3 from a desperate team or maybe even 6Mx2 but either way it's his last chance at a cash grab and he's going to take it.

I would cry if the Leafs did that.

At least Columbus have a lot of VERY good pieces. I always appreciated Jarmo's ability to make drastic moves. He never played things safe, and I liked that about him.

But he didn't stick with his guns when it came to Babcock. He made a super polarizing move to hire Babcock, knowing who he was, and the moment things got tough, he folded. He should have had the courage to stand up for the choice that he made and kept Babs. He cowarded out. The team has been a mess since. Either don't hire him in the first place OR stick with your pick. Sign of a weak leader there.

Anyways, Columbus is in a good place overall!

*Jarmo or not, no excuse to trade an asset for much less than it’s worth.

Elvis is also moved before Tarry.

I believe Elvis is a negative asset at the moment. He may be very very hard to move. I think the best bet is to make Elvis feel comfortable. And when he fully bounces back, you can move him then.

Jenner isn't worth Minten and a 1st

I'd be a fan of moving Tarasov and bringing in a backup until Greaves is ready to steal the show from Elvis. Tarasov has been, statistically, one of the worst goalies in the league this year (much like Sammy for a stretch).

I like a 1st + Minten as the framework for a Jenner trade, but I still think the current market pushes that to include a 3rd at least. Minten's ceiling appears to be Jenner's current floor (middle-sixer), so the 1st and 3rd compensate for if Minten doesn't reach that peak.

I don't disagree. I'm just not sure he can rehab his value much more with CBJ.

I've said it before, I'll say it again - a Campbell (EDM) for Elvis (CBJ) one-for-one "change of scenery" swap is destiny.
