Los Angeles doesn't need one season of a 35-year-old veteran center when Anze Kopitar and Phillip Danault have the first two center slots locked up and the Kings have the choice of Pierre-Luc DuBois, Alex Turcotte and Blake Lizotte (plus more remote alternatives such as Quint Byfield, Jaret Anderson-Dolan and Trevor Lewis) at the bottom two slots.

Dallas declines. They aren't gutting their farm system for a solid forward that they have no need for, a 3rd pair LD that they have too many of already, and a 32-year old winger that they also don't need. Suter also doesn't waive his NMC so it's a moot point anyway.

What would LA want?

What would LA want?

It's hard to say with such a shallow prospect pool as Pittsburgh's. LA's primary need is at LD, but I don't think much of Pierre-Olivier Joseph and Owen Pickering is too much while Isaac Belliveau is too little. IF it's true that the Los Angeles brain trust has lost faith in Kaliyev, the rumor is that the Kings might want a gritty fourth-liner for him -- Drew O'Connor seems to fit that description and has a season left on his contract after this one, so adding the right draft pick might make a deal.

There isn’t a chance DAL does that.

Jake Guentzel will cost 8 x $9,000,000 and i seriously doubt Dallas can afford him, And no way in hell is Jim Nill giving up Bourque and Stankoven for a rental.

Dallas is pretty solid down the left side, they don't have a need for two additional LWer's specially when it costs two of their top prospects.

Pit has no interest in Kaliyev or Kubalik.
They aren't trading OConnor.
Another high price defense is the last thing the penguins need as well so McDonagh is out.

The DAL trade, unless it's a cap dump, BUYERS pay 3rd teams for retention....no SELLERS.
This is hockey 101.
Bourque and a 1st for Jake and you got a deal.
