1.
NSH
  1. 2024 1st round pick (CAR)
Additional Details:
Carolina needs more scoring in the middle 6. Novak's downfall this year has been trying to carry a rookie Evangelista on his back and a 4th liner Cole Smith on his left wing.

On a team with actual talent, he'd do really well.

Good, defensive, physical bottom 6 player suited for a playoff run. Can retain if needed

One peaked at 30 points the other at 40. Lavi knows how to get defensive play out of his forwards and Glasser did really well under a defensive Hynes.

I'd love to give Kakko a shot on Nashville but Rangers fans also need to not act like the guy is on pace to score 80 a season next year.

Pass. It'd likely take a first for Trotz to move him. And only making 800k makes him desirable to all teams. I don't think the Canes really need another player picked in the 27-32 range, they need to make a run now.

Kakko “peaked” at 40 points when he was 21/22, and he is and has been way better defensively for years. I don’t think Kakko will ever be near 80 points in his career, but I also don’t just look at points when I evaluate players

I think he can be a solid, defensive middle 6 player, and same with Glass under the right coaching. Rangers need a center and Kakko needs a change of scenery which is why I picked the Rags.

I mean the Hurricanes have made great picks when they have a late first... see Bradly Nadeau but a first is an overpay for a middle-six kind of guy, if he was a top-six kind of guy then it would be fair but he just hasn't had the production to justify a first as a price tag

Kakko already is a solid, defensive middle-six winger who has been significantly better since returning from injury. Why does he need a change of scenery?

Glass is two years older and is worse in basically every quantifiable aspect.

I understand your reasoning, I'm just going by the market. Everyone and their mother laughed when Habs fans suggested Monahan getting a 1st return, yet he did. Only a few centers and many teams need one. The only other "good" center on the market is Henrique.

Novak only making 800k and can be extended for a fairly reasonable price might make him desirable to many teams looking to add. This is all speculation, though. He might not even go anywhere.

He logs 13 mins a night and clearly isn't trusted OR good enough to play in big roles. If you disagree, that's on you. I think he'd benefit from a change.

I get that the market returned a first for Monahan but Monahan is a much more established concept at the NHL level than Novak and Monahan had produced at a first-level rate in the past (82,64,58 points) but Novak has never done that (career high of 43 points)

Well, yeah, before his injuries knocked him down a few pegs.

Rangers need RW more than center. That alone they pass on Glass

It sounds like you really just don’t know much about the Rangers. Kakko was on the top line with Zibanejad to start the year, but that line has struggled all year to produce at 5v5, so Kakko was moved to the third line since Laf has had chemistry at RW with Panarin. Kakko doesn’t play a lot of minutes because the Rangers also have Panarin, Kreider, and Lafreniere.

Nobody said kakkos gunna hit 80 points but he's insane defensively so why would we trade a good defensive player for a eh defensive player and a 3rd

According to hockeyviz, Kakko faces other teams’ 2nd lines most frequently.

I do not think anyone believes that Kakko is an 80 point guy... But, he has been on a heater as of late and his line is gelling very well... Would be idiotic to trade him for "His stick blew up on him" Glass.

Devils shouldn't be spending on wingers, they need a 3C. Shouldn't be giving Lindy a reason to bench Holtz.

That’s because the Rangers are not deep at Forward, and relying on these types of stats make you look sight that Kakko just isn’t as good as he should be for being a top pick.

Name the last rental the Canes spent a 1st round pick on?

Novak isn’t worth nearly this amount, so if you want to find a team to overpay for a non-difference maker look elsewhere.

Why so defensive? it's a mock trade gang

Yeah, and neither was Monahan. That's what the market demands for a center.
