If Gauthier refuses to sign an ELC this summer, he'll get to be a junior at Boston College unless you offer Brayden Yager and your 2024 first for him (giving San Jose your 2025 first).

Most of these teams decline. Anaheim, Seattle, Ottawa, and Arizona all doing so with prejudice

Seattle is never going to go for that. For as good as Guentzel is, he's a rental until proven otherwise. The Kraken are in no position to be giving up that huge of a package for any rental right now.

i'd actually try it again if he was going to actually play 4C instead of 2C like he ended up doing last year. But the 2nd year at that cap hit is untenable for the Avs' 4C.
