Additional Details:
After long conversation with Dubas,
Crosby accept a trade to MTL, his favourite child team.
Dubas accelerate the rebuild by adding prospect and picks instead of losing Crosby, Malkin and Letang for nothing in 3-4 years.

We all know Crosby will decide where he want to finish his career. We all think it will be as a Pens, but I will not bet against him to come in MTL, especially if Pens and Mario Lemieux can add all these assets.

Why giving Newhook + more when he is in the part on the plan and maybe giving less than that for Crosby, when we know that he will only waive his NMC for Montreal ?

Maybe we can give a 1st round pick of course.

But don't forget that's need the authorisation of Mario.

What's the point in this? even with these trade MTL doesn't look like a playoff team. even if they do make the playoffs they aren't going very far. That top 6 isn't very good (also crosby would be on the 1st over Suzuki) and the depth isn't good either. The G isn't very good and neither is the D.

Also why would CBJ trade Johnson?

if crosby is going to be on a non-competitive team, why wouldn't he just stay in pittsburgh?

Trading for Crosby makes ZERO sense for MTL. The whole pajama Tavares moment for Crosby with the Habs could be cool, but important things would have to fall perfectly into place for that to happen.

#1: Crosby would have to be ok leaving Pittsburgh. Considering Crosby played a significant part with management and ownership to get Malkin and Letang extended, would be weird for Crosby to just leave while the others are still signed. And even if Dubas wants to rebuild, Crosby is probably still part of those plans, ZERO chance ownership would be ok with him leaving. Relationships would really have to break down for Crosby to decide to leave.

#2: Montreal would have to be in a position where they at least look like they are close to competing. Even if Crosby wants his pajama Tavares moment, Crosby's more than likely going to prefer competing for another cup than playing for a bottom feeding team. That being said, MTL could be in a good position by then end of next season. Exactly when Crosby becomes a UFA. So a lot will depend on the Habs 2024-2025 season and how they perform.

imo Habs can only land Crosby as a UFA. Even then...i'd put those odds at less than 1%... but one can dream!

Trading for Crosby makes ZERO sense for MTL.

Being able to say "Sidney Crosby, Montreal Canadiens legend" makes it worth it. Plus it'll cripple the team and make them a dumpster fire for the next 4-6 years.

Have to include mtls 2024 first if you want the jackets to even consider trading Kent Johnson

I should have put more emphasis on the "Trading" part of my statement making ZERO sense. I'm all for MTL going all in for him once he becomes a UFA. Trading a bunch of quality assets would for sure hurt their rebuild for a few seasons of "Sidney Crosby, Habs legend" lol

No reason for Columbus, a team lacking elite offensive players, to trade a player with elite offensive potential, to another team lacking elite offensive players.
