Initial Creation Date: Feb. 21, 2024
Published: Feb. 22, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
COL
  1. Mittelstadt, Casey
Additional Details:
Buffalo gets two rfa forwards who would be on the nhl roster if they were slightly better on the PK behrens and a 2nd. Feels like a good mix of young roster players and a good prospect. Not sure it’s really what buffalo fans want but I think it’s fair for a guy they probably won’t re-sign
BUF
  1. Behrens, Sean [Reserve List]
  2. Meyers, Ben
  3. Tufte, Riley

Those are below replacement level guys (not Behrens). They’re both 25 years old AHL caliber players. The second is 3 drafts away. Buffalo has an abundance of LHD. Basically you’ve given nothing that remotely hurts, and nothing Buffalo needs.

It’s going to cost a lot more than that to get him

Lmfao. Not even close. If Mittelstadt was a rental, this wouldn't be enough

Honestly. That's what you think a 2nd line center who will net 60 points will cost?

Lol, here's some stuff we have laying around. Honestly, I don't see a contending team in the mix, we need a hockey trade for a right d that can lean on opponents and play defense. No contender is giving that up, and the Sabres are not remotely looking for futures. Sabres can add meaningful stuff for the right guy. Also, mittelstadt isn't somebody the Sabres are gonna let just walk, they have two years of control left.

Behrens doesnt fit a need for Buffalo, everything else is garbage. Also everything right now points to Buffalo extending him, so idk why you think they wouldn't

If I'm adams, I'm drafting defense every pick, nobody under 6 feet tall. Unless celebrini or lindstrom is available when we pick.

Even if Mitts didn’t want to sign, the team could still force him to arbitration, if nothing else. And if it were a one-year deal, they would have all season next year to find a trade partner if he didn’t want to stay, and he’s still an RFA after one more year. He’d have no incentive to not perform well because he wants to get paid by whoever he lands with. Your logic is entirely flawed.

JFC, one podcaster makes a claim that Mitts is available (a claim he walked back) then the actual Buffalo GM says he isn't and they want to re-sign him so the logical move is to...continue to propose an endless string of trades for Mitts (whom the Avs CANNOT afford to re-sign) to the Avs.

Insane isn’t it?
If it makes u feel any better, i think every fan base loses their minds & does this kind of nonsense on here
My fellow Sabres fans, for example, keep proposing trades with CGY for Andersson- and CGY clearly isn’t gonna trade him when they’re already trading Tanev & Hanifin

Looks like we are just gonna have to put up with it until the deadline unfortunately

But @Brian9Rogers,
literally EVERYONE responding in this thread is correct
The Sabres aren’t trading Mitts
This return for him is a garbage offer we’d laugh at
And u guys can’t fit Mitts under your Cap moving forward anyways, so he’d be pointless for u guys to trade for

There’s just ZERO CHANCE this, or anything like it, happens

The TDL is such an overhyped media and fan-driven event. I get why there's so much excitement around it but I can't wait 'til it's over.

There's a bit of that going around, too, but I've seen lots of Byram for Mitts swaps and it doesn't make sense for either team even when the value is right

Yup. Sabres have no need or interest in him. I'd rather move tage than Casey
