Ahh thats what I meant. Regardless if they sell like I project they still might be able to keep it.

Call it one of those firsts then. I dont see him getting much more than a late first rounder for him at this point. Seems like the Ducks want to move on.

That’s such a bad return for Jake and I will be beyond ticked if that deal is done. Foegele does absolutely nothing for us and is a UFA. Broberg is a throw in that would acceptable if a forward that’s younger with more potential like Holloway or even McLeod came back to us.

The Rags can’t afford Rust and if Zegras was that cheap he’d be on another team. He will cost triple that if he even moves.

Interesting deal with the Rangers if you swap Kakko with Goodrow.

Do you really think the Pens will be better next year and make the playoffs? I'm thinking that unless they win the lottery, they give up this year's pick no matter what.

Edmonton declines. They've already told teams that Broberg isn't available for a rental. And over their team's past 82 games Foegele has just as many 5v5 points as Guentzel does, and he doesn't get to play with Sidney Crosby.

That better not be the Jake deal bc that's awful. Foegele is a UFA and does nothing for us and the only player I'd have interest in being the centerpiece would be McCleod, which it doesn't sound like he's on the table.

Of course not. McLeod is more valuable than Guentzel when you consider age, contract, position and health.

McLeod has 19 pts and 65 pts in 190 games. He's a decent young player. Jake Guentzel is a top 15 winger in the league and his cap hit will be 3 million this year. Yeah, Jake's not going to EDM then because nobody else even remotely interests me as a centerpiece of the deal.

Edit: I certainly don't blame you for not wanting to lose McCleod. He's a decent young center with a lot of potential. But I'm just saying well first off he's not more valuable than Guentzel 1 to 1 in a vacuum idk about EDM specifically but in a vacuum that's ridiculous but also moreso with some of the other names being floated on other teams and some of the other trades I've seen I'd prefer almost all of them over these EDM proposals I'm seeing. Basically only McCleod being included would probably change that perspective for me. But no I certainly understand not wanting to lose McCleod for what is surely a rental in EDM's situation.

    Fair post.

Mcleod will be a 3C or Middle 6 winger for the Oilers for the next decade or more to come. He’s in that Nuge territory where you keep him forever. He wants to be here and he has the speed, hands, and smarts to be impactful in the new NHL. So yeh that’s why to the Oilers it makes very little sense to trade him for a Rental.

That said, I would agree that Guentzal is the best available rental winger on the market. But he isn’t the only good one out there, the Oilers offence sits Top 5 again this year and usually is tops in the League. There’s other more appropriate wingers at a lower cost that are still good wingers that the Oilers could target. Toffoli, Tarasenko, and then on the cheaper scale guys like Mantha, Duclair. And if we really wanted to break the bank maybe we go after Buchnevich, although i can’t see the Oilers paying that high a price.
