I would think LA would use Kaliyev as part of a package for either a goalie or defender. Seems redundant to acquire a 4th liner for him at this point

Why would the Hawks give up a 2nd? Kaliyev is having as bad this season as Raddysh.

Raddysh has been worse, KD should've traded him last season when he was a 20 goal scorer. Would've been great trade value. Now, looks like there's no point in even qualifying him this offseason.

Kaliyev - 41 - 6 - 8 - 14
Raddysh - 52 - 5 - 6 - 11

You would seriously give up a 2nd round pick for those three extra points while playing on a much better team?

Maybe slightly worse offensively, but Raddysh is an effective PKer too which is a valuable thing. Plus, he put up 20 goals last year, which tells me he is having a down year on an awful team, but I'd be willing to bet he can do it again, or at least get to somewhere in the middle.

It's more about upside and age. Kaliyev has never had an opportunity in the LA top 6, is a couple years younger, and has a ridiculous shot. He has much more raw talent than Raddysh. Maybe a 2nd is too high a price, but we know KD is trying to move off some picks if possible, I can see something like this happening.

I don’t disagree with the player to player comparison, Kaliyev may end up being better then Raddysh however, the 2nd round pick could very well end up being better then both.

I don't think KD wants to use all his 2nd round picks, last draft he admitted he was open to/hoping he could moving some draft picks for NHL players.

He was open to packaging picks to trade up, but I don't think he ever mentioned wanting NHL players. Sure, though, Kaliyev's shot is great, but that's about it. Also, he has had almost four years to seize a larger role in LA and has been passed up by multiple players on the depth chart. Like Snowhawk said, I think that 2nd could be better than both. Plus, LA is probably gonna try to include him in a package for some "win now" players. I'm not entirely opposed to acquiring him, I just don't think this is as much of a no brainer "Hawks accept" as you have implied. There are plenty of guys in the 2nd round this year that I would rather give the opportunity to. Then again, if he comes to CHI and has success, CHI might be able to flip him on draft day for a profit. Or maybe he becomes a long term piece.

I think there is a better chance he packages multiple 2nds and 3rds to get back into the 1st round again or packages a 2nd round pick with the Tampa 1st rounder to move up higher in the 1st round.
