Realistic Landing Spots For Jake

Created by: edeangel84
Team: 2023-24 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 24, 2024
Published: Feb. 24, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I’m excluding Carolina, Detroit, and Dallas. In the case of Dallas there’s just not any reporting to suggest they’re looking.

That leaves Vegas, Edmonton, Colorado, LAK, and Vancouver.

Value isn’t off but I don’t think the Canucks would move Hoglander

Friedman noted flordia also showed interest.

I don't think COL would go for Jake personally, think they'll try and add Goalie and Center personally.

Same thing with LAK, just doesn't seem like a landing spot IMO.

VGK/EDM deals aren't bad. I'd rather work in Dorofeyev for VGK though given Dubas's comments the other day he would make sense.

I don't hate the VAN deal, I'd love Hoglander, but not sure I want Mikheyev coming back, gives them less control of cap in the summer and IMO would need to have one of Smith or Rakell moved.

They won't trade him to one of their biggest division rivals, and if they do they'd ask for a ton.

Now, all 4 of these teams knows what the others are offering and don't want them to get Jake. So, who ups their offer to secure him? This is where prices can get to be ridiculously high.

It’s what NY does.

For me, the EDM and LA offers are a bit better than the other three.

As for Florida, their prospect pool is pretty rough and they essentially are without a 1st for the next three drafts (26 is tied up in a condition). You were likely right to exclude them.

I think the ask would be a package including Lundell.

If i'm Dubas I tell NYR it's Lafreniere and a 1st Straight up. If a big division rival wants him that bad then they can pay for it.

Conceivable. Perhaps the only way to get him, too.

Yeah I don't know how else FLA makes a "large" trade.

Their cap situation is awful, no 1st's until 2026 and bad prospect pool as you mentioned.

In order I like LA, Vegas or Vancouver, EDM or Colorado. Also saw Carolina inquired and they definitely have some pieces I'd like also if they're available...

Carolina is too cheap to make a deal happen though.

Avs aren't a realistic landing spot for JG. As it stands Landy will be back. Even without Landy back they probably wouldn't do it as they don't really need wings. The one thing they do need above all else is a 2C. JG is not a 2C, ergo not realistic at all.

I’m only going off Dave Pagnotta’s report that they were a team that called about Jake.

Seems about as reliable a 'source' as Seravalli.
