I agree Anaheim could do it but it’d have to be Mctavish, and Mintyukov not Lacombe and Zegras.

If the Canucks were to trade him to Anaheim, the package would be something like this:

Carlsson or McTavish + Mintyukov + 2024 first (top 3 protected)

To be traded within the division, The offer would need to be a country mile better than this.

And you way overvalue John Gibson who's numbers have been pretty bad for the past 5 seasons or so. Casey and Holtz is already a major overpay for an average Goaltender.

Gotta know two things to really assess deal…

1. Where is that pick? If the pick is #1 it’s probably very competitive.

2. What does EP’s next contract look like?

3OA + McTavish + Mintyukov boy you must be smoking something good to think that's a real possibility.

The only reason Vancouver sells pettersson is because they can't afford his next contract, and if that's the case, you're going to get shafted on value. You wouldn't even get the proposed deal.

This. ANA is flush with centers they love. They’re multiple pieces and years away from competing, but would have to ship out multiple younger pieces to get Pettersson, and likely pay top dollar in division. Wouldnt be surprised if Verbeek doesn’t even phone Vancouver

Clearly you don’t watch hockey at all… Pettersson is a top 5C in the league who produces at a 100 point level offensively and has borderline selke level two way ability. Take the Tkachuk trade as a comparible then increase the value because Petey plays C. So to suggest Van wouldn’t even get Zegras and Lacombe with a 1st is absolutely ridiculous. I wouldn’t even be surprised if Van wanted more than Mctavish+ Mintyukov+ this years 1st

1: Calgary only made that trade because Tkachuk refused to sign there, not because they couldn't afford his salary demands.

2: Calgary got two players on the cusp of free agency that they had to sign to mega deals or loose to free agency, both of whom were on the cusp of 30 at time of signing. They didn't receive players in the trade, they received a few weeks exclusive negotiating rights with some UFAs.

3: Pick 3 and pick 30 are wildly different in value.

But sure, tell me that I'm the one who's out to lunch. Vancouver can want everything under the sun, doesn't mean they'll get it, or anyone else will be dumb enough to agree to the trade.

I agree the ask of McT + Minty + 3OA is a lot

I don’t think I agree there’s really a leverage difference here between the Tkachuk and Pettersson comparable. Whether it’s money or playing in CAN, I’m not sure why that would matter. If anything, CGY probably had less leverage

Comparing value:
- Zegras in this year < Hub after 115pts (you may argue this, but 115 is bananas. We were all so hot on Hub)
- 3OA > Weegar (this doesn’t feel close or up for debate)
- Lacombe = 1st 3 years out (being 3 years out at the time puts a serious damper on its value and Lacombe is playing well for us)
Pettersson > Tkachuk (not by a huge margin, but Tkachuk only had the 1 dominant season at the time. Pettersson has totally proven he’s no fluke (which somehow was still a little bit debatable for Tkachuk)

TLDR, this proposed offer feels decent. Maybe it’s slightly off, but to assume Z could be upgraded to McT and Lacombe into Minty feels unrealistic
