<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>I've not seen a Murray trade I'd accept since winning the cup he is 32nd in SV% and 40th in GAA. Georgiev is a back up if he stays in NY and Shesterkin's play has shown that and that why a 2nd and Hirose is the highest I go for him. If Demko is so good why trade him? Markstrom is 30 and Domingue isn't a starter either and DiPietro has worse numbers than Jimmy Howard this season. So why move Demko unless you already know he is only just a back up.</div></div>

The reason I would entertain a Demko trade is because the Canucks would be extending Markstrom. From the perspective of asset management, I purposed that the Canucks should move Demko out before the expansion draft because I don't see a situation where he isn't picked. If they could flip him to a team who is in dire need of a goalie then maybe the Canucks can get someone who they can protect in the expansion draft.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>alwaysnextyear</b></div><div>While I agree that goalies don't have a lot of trade value in general, and there's no way DET trades Bertuzzi for Demko, saying he's a career backup is way too early to call. He might have the same trajectory as Bernier (highly touted prospect that actually became a career backup) or he could still develop into a starter. He's a 24 YO with a whopping 37 NHL games played, and most goalies don't peak until their late 20's. I'm hoping the Canucks hold onto him. Also, the Canucks were one of the worst defensive teams in the league this year, it was their offense and goalies that often got them wins.</div></div>

This is a great point, I've watched the Canucks give up the most high end scoring chances all year yet still win games off the stellar play of both our goalies. I think there is value in Demko, but my main question was how much value did he have to a team in dire need of any sort of improvement.... I can honestly say I didn't pay much attention to the 17-49-5 wings so i didn't put much stock into Bertuzzi, which was obviously naive of myself.
