If you are selling What about Anderson

Created by: PeterK
Team: 2023-24 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 28, 2024
Published: Feb. 28, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Lots of draft capital and cap space to use over the next few seasons to revamp into a competitive roster. Losing Anderson is the only thing that kind of matters but the defense doesn't matter right now. And there is no way signing him to the huge deal he will command when his deal is up (at age 30!) makes sense for the Flames.

NJ could always send a goalie back the other way. Perhaps Akira Schmid.

Andersson isn't available and it would start with Knies and your 2024 1st just to make Calgary pick up the phone

If Calgary was retaining salary on Markstrom then he already would have been dealt for Holtz. This was confirmed by sources.

I'm not sure I'd want to pay out big for Andersson. His numbers with and away from Weegar are striking.

TOR doesn’t have the pieces it would take to acquire Rasmus Andersson, who’s not available anyways

don't see why they would move andersson.

cap doesn't work in that boston trade, and i'm sure they want to keep wotherspoon. sign and trades aren't really a thing either.

An aging rental and a decent D-man for a 6th/7th D-man, a top prospect, 2 1sts, and 2 more picks? Hard pass

Cap works in the Boston trade - oop sorry, I had not included Forbert, my bad. Wotherspoon or another young prospect, point is, Hanifin makes the most sense in Boston. I hate it, but it does.

Anderson is very good. Remember, Leafs don't need an all star D. They NEED a D to play with Rielly. Anderson plays the style he needs. He is a better Schenn.

then my bad. I am rather surprised. I don't see why Calgary is trying to keep him. It's rare a goalie is more valuable as a trade chip and I think he is this season, they should take advantage of it.

wotherspoon isn't really a prospect, more of a depth d man.

okay, forbort a 1st and a 3rd and maybe a B- prospect for hanifin 50% retained seems fair
