Ottawa has no reason to do that. Love Pager but if we aren't retaining I would be shocked if we got a 3rd tbh
Lee trade is a need, since we lose no 1st I like it

CHI needs a 1st to take Lee. We have too many 2nd's as it is. Quality over quantity or you should probably find another team.

Keep Wahlstrom and make one of those 2nd round picks a 1st and the Hawks accept.

Pageau's having a rough year, and there's zero room for him in Ottawa. Love the guy but no thanks.

I know I am in the minority, but as a Hawks fan I would take the deal. Wahlstrom hasn't lived up to the hype, but he could still play a middle-bottom 6 role for the Hawks. Ottawa 2nd is gonna be early. Gives us the ability to package 2 or even 3 2nds to move in in this or later drafts.

I'm with @klassic. Hawks probably accept that deal. Hawks aren't getting a 1st to take Lee without sending something back to the Isles they'd actually want.

That is reasonable, and I think I agree. But, I also still think CHI should be aiming for 1st round picks. If CHI is going to trade up, why not use a situation like this to do so? There is no guarantee that we will be able to trade up with other teams. But, in this scenario, they need to move cap and they also have a very empty prospect pool, and CHI needs higher quality pieces to add to their rebuild. So, why not ask a 1st and offer to send some pieces back to offset the value? Kill two birds with one stone. Maybe a Mrazek type of deal is in order but trading up further than 13 spots this time. I guess we could always just take 2nds and then look for a team that is looking for quantity over quality, but I think it would be easier to leverage a cap dump situation to get quality assets rather than leveraging a handful picks into a 1st rounder.

Sure, I'd be fine with a Mrazak style deal as well. Maybe I misunderstood your (and Snowhawk's) initial replies in this ACGM that the Isles needed to include a 1st for the Hawks to accept. I don't see the Isles using a 1st unless the Hawks returned a 2nd or a prospect the Isles want. I can't see a 1st being included with nothing going back to the Isles. And as an aside, I really like the players Kyle has selected with his five 2nd rounders so far. So I'm not opposed to adding more to the cupboard.

No no. You understood it correctly. You just changed my mind. I just don't think adding more 2nd round picks to our stockpile is in the cards. We have so many picks. So, if we are gonna do anything it should include packaging stuff up for more 1st round picks. But also, KD could just try to draft super high upside guys and just plan on cashing in on them down the road if they hit.
