Ducks trade - Rico and Carrick

Description

Could probably do Rico + retention for the first, but trying to expand the trade to pick up an upgrade at 4C, while moving RyJo (and I dont think you can add Rico without moving RyJo somewhere), so adding Gulyayev. (could do Bahrens instead, but NOT adding Ritchie).

So 2 1sts + Ryjo for Rico and Carrick. I feel like that is too much from the Avs but you have to give to get.

Also thinking about not using assets for a G. 10 of their last 21 are against teams out of the playoffs. Can they trust Annunen to go 6-4/7-3 in those games?

I'm not so sure about that. Gulyayev is a LhD, plus he's in the KHL with all the attendant risk of never getting out of Russia. I wouldn't be so high on him.

I would accept Colorado's 2026 second instead of Gulyayev even though the resulting package would be theoretically less valuable than the one shown here.

No way should Gulyayev be included in a trade like this. He's too good to give up for a couple rentals.

Trades aside and in reference to your goalie point, it isn't so much about whether Annunen can be trusted as a back up at this point but more what happens if Georgie goes down. We no longer have Frankie available. Would you be happy seeing the Avs roll Annunen/Prosvetov/Miner through a play off run? I'm afraid that's likely a second round exit at best as none of those likely to be a rookie Patrick Roy!

oh sweet Anus (sorry, that was too funny not to say)...its also the RyJo contract. I am not convinced Landy is coming back, but if he does, the Avs cap next year is daunting. Does anyone want to run back another year of RyJo. I think to move on, some sort of sweetner is going to have to happen, the question really is, how sweet.

I'm certainly aware of the contract dump aspect. Teams don't give up their top prospects for that though. It's just not gonna happen when they could buy him òut for not too steep a penalty.

Absolutely not on Allen. The extra year is prohibitive and even at 50% retained he's too expensive in reality. Raanta would probably be my choice to go after. Lankinen or Kahkonen if cheap enough. Even Jones for a late pick.

Possibly, though it eats into anything the Avs gain in moving RyJo when it comes to fixing 2C this year, and I don't see the Avs moving RyJo without doing that. The only way I could see that one working would be if the Avs managed to bag someone inexpensive like Frost for 2C. Then there is money this year for someone like KK and find cheaper back up next year or roll with Annunen from the start of the season.
