If you truly think Markström's value will top any trade involving a goalie past 5 years or so, you're being delusional.

This package already exceeds such value.

If you truely think the Flames will trade Markstom without at least 1 good asset coming in return you're delusional. No Casey isn't that, he's too small.

We believe Fitzy put Holtz on the table…and Conroy agreed to one-for-one with about $2m retained. He took it to Markstrom, who waived his NTC for NJ. (Via reports from Pagnotta, Friedman, others)

So if there is any future to this deal, without retention, it’s likely to be less than original deal that was agreed to by both sides.

(My take is that Fitzy was only putting Holtz there if we got his offer (which we don’t know) for Hanifin accepted too. My wanted package deal…but again, just my speculation)

There is not now, has never been, and will never be, a 2024 1st rounder in this deal from NJD.

It's to late now anyways. The time to make that deal was when it was first reported fitz was being a d*** and his team will miss the playoffs again.

They're getting multiple good asset here.

They're not getting top prospects / young NHL players tho. 34 year old goalies with fickle history will never do that.

Hence the pick is heavily conditional.
