Created by: Tintin
Team: 2024-25 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 2, 2024
Published: Mar. 2, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Punting the rest of 23-24, recoup assets wherever possible.

I would hate for the Devils to buy big on an aging goalie however.
Both Daws and Schmid has had somewhat extended periods of very promising play. I wonder if one of the best approaches regarding the goalie position is to... do nothing?

lmk how out of my mind y'all think i am

Tell me about Wahlberg, whats the expectation for him/approximately how much would he be worth in terms of picks?

It does make sense for the Sabres, kinda
I’m pretty sure we’ll look at the UFA market first though
And if we do have to trade, we’d likely wanna move other pieces & keep Mitts

I’d say a trade like you’ve proposed is in the realm of possibility though

Sabres took a shot on him early in the second. Still young but probably looking at a middle six center type of player.

The Sabres had a first round grade on Wahlberg, and apparently were giddy when he was on the board when they picked in the second round. Wahlberg was on swedens top line at the wjc, with ostlund and lekkerimaki. I guess the obvious questions are- will he stay at center or transition to wing, is he a true power forward or just a guy with size, and how long until he comes over.

All of you are very knowledgeable Sabre fans.
Thus this is a difficult post for me write.
Marino would be a great fit for the Sabres.
Tom Fitzgerald absolutely fleeced Ron Hextall in that trade (but nearly every one did as well).
It appears Buffalo will get a RHD and two potential NHL prospects for Casey, one NHL prospect and a third.
Sounds like Buffalo could not refuse.

    That is the good stuff.
Seamus Casey is a 5'10" puck moving RHD, even if could make the jump to the NHL, he does not fit the mold that helps Buffalo's RHD.
6'1" Stillman was taken 29th OA in 2021,
He had an unremarkable OHL career scoring 48 pts his final season which was just over half the 90 pts of team leader Tucker Robertson had.
He will turn 21 this month and has 18 pts in 43 games for the AHL Comets. Compare that to Kulich and Rosen.

On the other hand Wahlberg looks like a full grown man in this picture https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=249109 of him.
Buffalo needs more players of his stature and not trade him away.

Let me close, not all of you are strongly endorsing this trade, but take out Wahlberg for me to consider it.
The two Devil prospects do not move my needle, Wahlberg does.

Good Post! Well to me Seamus becomes a Nice trade asset to go along with my 2024 1st. Teams are always looking for highly rated RD Prospects and no matter his Height he is still ranked very highly. Buffalo IMO looses out on possible trades because they don't have a Seamus in there system yet. Just my 2 cents.
