That Canes deal needs some explaining. Fast >> NAK, so you want a 1st for Pacioretty? That's a CRIMINAL trade

Patches holds ultimate leverage with his NMC. You should consider that the team he’s traded to, if he’s even traded, won’t be giving you a premium asset for him.

You’ve asked the Canes to give an important roster player, and a 1st round pick…that isn’t going to happen.

A premium defensive forward + a first for a forth line winger and a guy with a long injury history... are you kidding me

I hate the pricetag putting on the oilers trade seems extremely high. I wouldn’t get involved in a deal like that. Personally don’t want mantha he’s had a good year but his career suggests he’s either due for an injury or dispersing act. Gamble I wouldn’t want the oilers doing. Although I’d have mild interest in the goalie however holland stated he isn’t looking at goalies so there’s that.

Nak is a cheaper versing of fast. Nak is also more physical than fast which will help in the playoffs.

If you are referring the CAR trade Nak is a cheaper verion of Fast with the same production who plays a game more suited for the playoffs than fast. Pacioretty also plays a game suited for the playoffs along with being a goal scorer.

The Hurricanes have enough physicality on the roster when the game calls for it (Svechnikov, Jarvis, Staal, Orlov), and adding a guy who's very physical but isn't as good in his own end as Fast doesn't help the Hurricanes. I think Aubé-Kubel might be an interesting pickup as a 14th forward or depth piece but not really at the expense of Fast.

Patches would be a great add but I can only see him getting a second or third round pick at max

I should have put just a 2nd round pick and fast to make the cap work. CAR lost in the playoffs last season because they didn't have enough scoring and because they got bullied by Florida. NAK is better at offence, physicality, and just as good defensively as fast. CAR should flip Fast for a Marcus foligno.

I'd be be fine with Foligno assuming Chicago is willing to retain. I think the Hurricanes improved both the scoring and physicality by bringing in Bunting and Orlov + the readdition of Andrei Svechnikov and Jarvis playing a much more physical game. I just don't think the Hurricanes need a bottom-six winger it would probably be another scorer with a bit of grit to him

Fast is significantly better. NAK is more physical, but Fast has a history of playoff OT winners, he's the more valuable playoff piece
