Blunt Dutch truth time: the Isles don't currently have the trade capital to get Buch. May I interest you in a Schenn?

Wahlstrom and a 3rd would get Duke. Hoping he gets a late 2nd (with 50% retention ofc) because of recent play but not expecting it.

Quick question, is he going to FA after this season or are you guys trying to resign him?
I really want to keep him but willing to trade him for assets and resign him in FA.

Would love to keep Duclair but he’s their only tradable asset really at this time. With the trades today I think 3rd and whalstrom for Duclair half retained is fair. Would love to see a 2nd though with how he has been playing

Reasonable assumption for Vatrano. A 1st and actually interesting prospect has been what is ANA fans have been saying. Otherwise it just makes more sense to keep him and take a bit less next TDL

Probably trying to re-sign. If they get a 2nd I think they'll feel like they have to move him and maybe revisit in FA.

Duclair is the only realistic target out of these three for me. The Isles need to be shopping in the purely rental aisle if they're making moves - they have less than $7M in cap space available next season with 9 F / 6 D / 2 G under contract. Adding Vatrano leaves you with $3M to add two more forwards to ice a full team every night (and whatever healthy scratches you want to carry); adding Buchnevich means you 100% have to shed cap next year to ice a 20 man roster. So you're either adding assets to get retention on Vatrano/Buchnevich's 2024-25 salary, or your paying to dump a Lee/Pageau type off the books, whether through buyout or trade.

See that’s the problem is I really want to Claire with the sharks next year he’s great with the younger guys super good character guy and he’s obviously producing at a pretty nice rate right now. Think he could be a 30 goal score for us next year.

Definitely see that, along with a guy like Granlund they're great to have around. If he does get shipped off I do hope he re-signs in the offseason.

I do at least expect Barabanov to be moved since there seems to be no interest from him in returning to a rebuilding team.
