People on this site made me think I was crazy for thinking Hanifin would only get the H. Lindholm return of a 1st and 2 2nds but he got even less than that

calgary fans were insane to think he'd get that much. 1st and a likely 2nd. no top prospect, no good roster player. because of course. that's what it always is.

On twitter and here I was seeing that flames fans would have been upset if the return was howard, 2026 1st, Perbix +. I cant imagine how they feel about this return

What kind of condition is that on the 1st? Calgary gets it unless they decide to trade it to someone else?

Before this deadline…comps told us (before retention)

Hanifin - 1st, 3rd
Tanev - 2nd, 3rd
Zadorov - 3rd

(Always trust the comps)

Sure, yet Conroy still got more for each than all of those and Hanifin is supposedly getting an extension, so isn’t the “rental” that everybody said would only bring those types of “comps”

he got a conditional 25 first (can slide to 2026 if vegas chooses, that's a big deal), and a 3rd that could turn into a second....and there is no extension. its exactly what the comps told us, just a little bit lighter.

c'mon, we all remember what you were saying. this is an instance where it's okay to just say that you were expecting more.

There is no such thing as extension price and rental price. It’s all one market and top price wins.

Hanifin got 1st, 3rd and waiver-bound pending UFA
Tanev got 2nd, prospect
Zadorov got 3rd, 5th

The extras on first two were small, for retention. Extra on Zadorov were to move him early.

I posted the exact thing on Zadorov trade thread.

Yes, I was definitely being overly optimistic and wanted a better return for sure

I have absolutely no problem admitting I was aiming high and that the Player/Prospect coming back in the deal is far less than I was hoping for

Look at the trade comments, very few think this is a fair deal and, like me, clearly believe Hanifin should have fetched more: Hanifin Trade

I hope Conroy knows what he’s doing. He’s pretty high on these two Russian Defensemen apparently

It aligns so strongly with the comparables though. I think this is an instance of Conroy getting what most GMs in this situation get, and that expectations were unrealistic.

I think he did just fine here, especially if the conditional third becomes a second.

Hard to believe that Tampa couldn't or wouldn't have put together a better offer than this. Almost every single Tampa offer on here was better than what they ended up getting. I wish Brisebois had offered the '26 1st, one if Gauthier/Thompson, Perbix and a 3rd or 4th, as Hanifin would be a Bolt now imo.

I thought Calgary did what was expected in these deals. It sucks watching them have to dismantle their team. At what point do you maybe trade Americans before they hit this position

The Lindholm deal seems like the biggest positive. I’m curious to see what Boston gives to get him and how it compares if it happens

just the tampa 2026 1st probably would have gotten it done. The 1st vegas gave has conditions that will probably make it their 2026 1st and teams would probably rather take tampas 2026 1st than vegas. Then they also got a conditional 3rd but that doesnt make up the difference between vegas and tampa's 1st imo, and lastly some random player that would have been a group 6 UFA. It obviously wasnt an asset problem for tampa, it seems like it was more of a contract problem
