1. Dvorak probably has Chicago on his MNTC.
2. Chicago might be interested in the player from salary management perspective, but not for that compensation.

It is going to take a 2nd round pick to move Dvorak's contract. CHI declines.

I don't think it's as easy of a pass as you make it out to be, 3 1st round picks and 2 2nd round picks worth of value is a quantity of quality assets. The prospects are both top 6/top 4 quality, Mesar is a replacement forward that can play all 3 forward positions with 2nd line ceiling. Konyushkov is a top 4 RHD prospect that might actually give Reinbacher a run for his money as the #1 RHD of the future, the issue with him though is he is signed in the KHL until 2026. The value is not only there it's too much, you can argue that it's not the peices you would want bit IMO you would be wrong. Over the last 3 months Ducks fans have repeatedly said they want a top 4 RHD with top pairing potential (Konyushkov provides that) or a top 6 forward (Mesar provides that) and a 1st round pick (the offer has 2, 1 is likely late this year, the other is likely early next year in a deeper dradt) then the offer added a 2nd round pick as well. This might not be what you were hoping for but you can't deny that having Mesar, Konyushkov, one of Misa or Masse, a likely top 12 prospect out of next year's draft and a 33-45 pick from the 2nd round next year is a very good return. Ducks fans have said they want Reinbacher + the Jets 1st or the Habs 1st (5-7) + Farrell, equivalent value to the Habs 1st +Farrell in terms of quality would be Mesar + Jets 1st + 2nd. Konyushkov + Jets 1st +Farrell would be equivalent toe Reinbacher + Jets 1st

I like Zegras but come on he’s not worth 3 Firsts. If the ducks want that big of a haul I’d rather go for someone else.

It’s exactly as easy as I’m making it out to be.

ANA needs: Top 6 offensive wing, #1RD
ANA surplus: Middle 6 forwards and bottom 4D
Verbeek’s goal next year as stated by him: compete for playoffs

In this scenario, they move out a sure bet top 6 scoring winger (their primary need even with him) for someone unproven that tops out on the 2nd line, a late 1st that’s extremely unlikely to fill either need (and they already have EDM’s), and an attractive ‘25 draft pick that won’t play in the NHL until 2027 (and that’s optimistic), so it will drag out their compete window (the opposite of Verbeek’s ambition)

Zegras isn’t available. Verbeek has said it, and Lebrun shut down the rumors weeks ago. If you want a 22 year old stud that isn’t available you don’t get to dictate the terms by trying to throw a bunch of ‘fine’ assets. If Slaf, Rein, or maybe the ‘24 MTL first aren’t included, it’s honestly a no brainer. Even if one of those assets are included, it’s totally debatable.

Zegras is staying in ANA at the end of the day and these are all just a pipe dream. The locker room, coach, and fans love him. Want to lure him out? It’ll be a huge overpay for which ANA will dictate terms. Verbeek proved he’s happy to dig his feet in for only a very desirable return for the likes of soon-to-be UFA Vatrano. He will have zero problems doing so for RFA controlled 22 year old team favorite Zegras

I wasn't saying he was available or even that the Ducks wouldn't/shouldn't decline this offer. My only issue is people saying it's an easy decline, when the bulk of the picks/prospects have top 6/top 4 potential. Giving up a proven top 6 guy is always a gamble and you definitely want to get the best return possible and yes that will be dictated by the Ducks. However getting a return that includes 1 top 6 forward prospect + 1 top 4 D prospect + 2 1st rounders is nothing to snub your nose at. That is a very good return, again that isn't saying the Ducks wouldn't decline it just that the offer isn't as bad as you make it out to be by saying "it's an easy decline"

I just don’t see how this is anything other than an easy decline. I think that was a fair reply

I’m not saying they didn’t ‘try’ here by adding some real value. I’ll give a small amount of kudos for that (I’d give more, but any cursory glance at MTL posts on this platform have had the same feedback repeated on literally hundreds of Zegras MTL ACGMs for months now).

At the end of the day, would ANA even have to think about this? No, not at all. To me, that’s makes it an easy decline. It’s awesome to hear how optimistic you are in Mesar and those picks. Enjoy them in MTL, I’m wishing you guys well 👍
