I don't think you are charging enough to take on Schmidt's cap hit. Yes, he still plays well as a third pairing defenseman but a 3rd/4th round pick swap feels light.

Edit: The Athletic has Schmidt's "surplus value" as -$1.5 million and PuckPedia's cap relief value model has a full year of $1.5 million having a value of the 59th overall pick. That suggests you want to charge the Jets their own 2nd round pick if you are doing this in the offseason.

The rangers actually gain cap space next season buying goodrow out, so no chance they trade a first to move him.

Leafs have no need to dump Reaves; he can be waived for minimal penalty if they don’t want him on big league squad although I doubt that
