In what world do you think Ottawa gives you a 5th overall pick and a 37th overall pick for...checks notes...Alexandar Georgiev.

Sakic wasn't happy with the Duchene return and wanted revenge

Let's forget that Detroit needs another winger like they need a hole in the head...

... Why is a 37 year old fringer NHLer's UFA RIGHTS returning multiple picks?

At the time the Sens thought the pick would be like 25th overall and there's a big difference between trading for a star center in his prime and a mediocre goalie.

Speaking of fun, can I have MacKinnon for Mathieu Joseph? Help a brother out?

No but a MacKinnon like leader would help the Sens immensely because the amount of talent and the results just don’t jibe, and they have already changed the GM and coach.

Yeah, unfortunately there aren't any MacKinnon's available.

It's almost like there should be some kind of test to allow people from making ACGMs

They changed the coaching staff on December 18th and the GM on December 31st... The damage was already done at that point. Need a full off-season and training camp to start seeing results. There was a 20 games stretch after January 11th where the Sens had a good record and were top-5 in all metrics. The wheels fell off again but they still do some things much better than any time during DJ Smith's tenure. It was always going to take some time after 7 years of Dorion and 5 seasons of DJ
