6 (actually 6.5 IMO) is likely Jarvis' 8 year number. Necas and Jarvis have similar RFA values.

I know that's the popular move among some users, but I just don't think that's what the Canes do. Jordan Staal is still fantastic, but simultaneously, he's getting near the typical cliff-falling age in an NHL career. When that happens, KK should slot into that premium-3C slot as seamlessly as any player in the NHL can. Dumping KK now is a major gamble that Staal can maintain his play until the end of the 4 year term.

Canes don't really need Chatfield in this scenario. He can walk for a cheaper RD option (like TDA, for example) if Jarvis requires more in a bridge. To me, Necas and Jarvis are of similar worth in the RFA market, so that would mean either an 8x6.5 or a 2x4.5. I could be wrong, though.
