Don't see Columbus having any interest
Jiricek is the closest thing they have to potential top pairing RHD.

Jackets decline. They don’t need chychrun and can’t afford to extend him. If they trade Jenner it’s most likely for futures. RHD is the jackets biggest need so trading their best prospect there doesn’t make sense. Then they have to take one with the sens pick and hope they turn out as good as jiricek and wait for them to develop.

“Hope they turn out as good as Jiricek” I mean it’s not like Jiricek is a superstar right now

And they could literally draft like Levshunov and Catton this year with the 2 picks. Who knows what Jiricek will be anyways

Not now, but he's an NHL D-man now that the FO mismanaged who slumped under a rookie coach. He's exceeding his record-setting AHL pace from last season right now. Dude should be a 2RD next year and 1RD by the time he's 24ish, even if we take Levshunov with the pick we're hoping he hits Jiricek's floor and arrives 2 years later.

There's absolutely no reason for Columbus to make this trade.

He has an extremely high ceiling just needs to work on his skating during the off-season. You wouldn’t trade Sanderson before last season for the 6th pick would you?

Levshunov is probably going top 3. Right now the sens have a 15% at a top 3 pick. They aren’t trading it if they get 1OA so right now they have maybe an 8% shot at levshunov. No way the sens can get levshunov with their pick

The only way Jiricek is getting moved is if Edm needs to deal Draisaitl and he comes with an extension. And even that would be a tough sell. Jiricek is very good and Chychurn doesn’t make any sense. In fact, there is no way the Jackets trade Jiricek alone in this trade. This just isn’t the team that matches up.

All swapping Jiricek for Levshunov would theoretically do is set back the timeline though, This wouldn't make sense for Columbus given that a 1RD, which would be the hope for either player, is one of their biggest needs. They obviously aren't there yet, but if you're managing the team, you're probably looking at 25-26 as the goal to start seeing some form of on ice success, given the timeline of all their young players and prospects. Currently, Jiricek is more likely to be ready to fill that role at that point, has the higher floor, and arguably the higher upside.

Saying "Who knows what Jiricek will be anyways" also really makes no sense here considering we're talking about an 18 year old as the alternative.

jiricek for ottawa's first this year is fair value given where that ottawa pick will fall and the strength of this draft. its the perfect move if someone needs to speed up their timeline and has a willing partner who wants an extra lottery shot at macklin. ottawa does need to speed up the timeline a little, especially given how long D take to develop.

however, that willing partner is not columbus.

the pick has for more value than a player his own teams dont think is good enough to play in the NHL.

Gotta hand it to the OP; it takes a lot to come up with a trade in which asking for Boone is the least objectionable part.
