If you want equal value to what Guentzel got you, MTL might propose something like Anderson, Kidney, Farell a conditionnal 2nd that can become a first and a 2nd

Which would likely be easy considering their prospect pool depth and number of picks in up coming drafts.

IF he decides in the summer of 2025 that he wants to lost some contenders to take calls from, WE drive that price. 87 isn’t going to be a rental in March. No one is making that mistake.

That is one possible scenario. Here's another:

Their season is underwhelming, rebuild is inevitable. Crosby says "I only want to go play with *insert team name*", Dubas contacts *insert team name* but they offer basically nothing because they know they are the only team on the list. Dubas caves at the deadline, because it's the only offer he has or he gets nothing.
