Hutson will probably be a LHD Parekh

    or actually,

Parekh will possibly be a RHD Hutson.

We can probably draft him at 7th... no need to trade hutson.

On behalf of all MTL fans i apologize for this post.
I mean im Junior>NCAA and even i know this is as wise as trading Brian Sakic for Paul Kariya
There's levels to this and as good as Parehk is and its no doubt he's the superior Conditioned Athlete
But he's not on Lane's level offensively or skating wise

It'd be like comparing Subban to Ryan Ellis , Weber to Doughty or Hedman to Trouba
While all are undoubtly All Star Level Stand Outs at the top of the league during their career
There's a Gap between them all by a decent amount as we're talking HOF vs not good enough or just falls short in some cases.

But for Relevant Stats he destroyed numbers/play of Makar,Fox and Both Hughes brothers in 2 straight years in the NCAA
He's leading the 2nd best team in the entire NCAA only Thwarted by MTL Goalie Fowlers tending for his Rival School at #1
All im saying is plenty of players we never heard of finish top 10 in leagues around the CHL but that isnt the case in NCAA Defensive Goal Scorers history.
Its a bunch of Norris Winners and Future Norris Winners.

He's good but not that good
Hutson is now the bar for all NCAA Dmen going forward knocking Leetch 40 year record down

Ryan Ellis did what Parekh did in the OHL in less games at the same age
He's the only top 20 comparable of note in the last decade or two
Outside there's D'angelo , Mintyukov, Evan Bouchard and Darren Raddysh

    Good Comparables
Not on Hutsons level though who will go down as the all time American Point Scoring among Dmen im sure

I’d say Lane Hutson is better at this point.

But neither are elite top-pair options.

    No they aren't.
Lane's a beast offensively but doesn't possess the defensive abilities nor the straight line speed (He's agile on his edge but he certainly isn't fast) to go 22+ minutes a game against the Matthews, MacKinnon's and Pettersson's of this world. Also thinking that pairing him with a defensively minded defender will solve every issue on defence.... Did it work for Mete? Talent level are different but both are defensively unable to battle with their body plus their unimpressive straight line speed is/has been an issue. Yeah Lane might be able to make better zone exits but once the defensive cycle happens against top lines it won't matter. Hutson could be an excellent 2nd pair guy tho.

Mete was a fraction of the offensive talent of both these guys. Lane broke a 30 year record in the NCAA for rookie defense, Parekh will put almost 100 pts in the OHL in his Draft year. If these guys have the right D partners, they can blossom to their full potential. (Hutson is pretty underrated defensively as well, and there is some potential there)
