Get G his cup NEXT season

Created by: huntsy95
Team: 2024-25 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 15, 2024
Published: Mar. 15, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Assumption #1: Sens win Celebrini sweepstakes
Assumption #2: Norris can stay healthy. With his type of injury at this point it seems to be either he is good to go and will be a 25-30 scorer, 2-way guy...or he will be sent to Robidas island and we can use his ~8M on LTIR to spend elsewhere.
Assumption #3: Boston loses in 1st or 2nd round this year.

Why this trade works for Boston. Looking at guys like Fantilli and Carlsson this season (I wont even mention the guy in Chicago cuz he is from another planet), first year Cs can enter the league and start producing immediately. Boston after not winning again, are looking to both get better immediately and hedge their future. Celebrini addresses both of these needs. Sweeney was already shopping Ullmark so they are clearly open to the idea.

Ottawa has shown this year that when they get above .900 save percentage, they are a good team . Demelo is the poised, steady, veteran right handed D-man that they need and Chabot played his best hockey as a Senator when paired with him a few years back. Sens finally get a true 1A goalie, a good pro who plays with jam and can score with Debrusk, and a more dynamic 4th line.

Would also love to see them hire Berube has HC. I think with elite goaltending, full year with a coach, and a more complete lineup both upfront and on the backend, that this team could make a massive jump (i.e. Devils 2 seasons ago, Canucks this season etc...).

This sways so hard in Boston's favour, should just call you the Swayman.

Did you forget to put Boston's 1st round pick instead of Ottawa's? Because no, this does not work for Ottawa. This is hilariously bad. No #1 overall pick is worth a rental goalie for a cap dump and a top 4 D... Ottawa will just buy Korpisalo out rather than suffer a loss of a trade this lopsided.

Could swap Geekie for Frederic and ideally make it a sign & trade with Ullmark.

It is fun living in fantasy land. Elite goaltending can change things quickly however...

troll acgm, ulmark not even worth chych 1 for 1 yet alone add OTT 2024 1st.

no G in the league is worth a top 25 pick.

Respect the bold move . However imaging the clowning the Sens would get online after this trade. After finally getting out of the Dorion/melnyk clown show and then this trade happens I would probably pick up a different sport

Objectively the sens are a better team next year with this trade, I don't think that fact can be argued. A buyout of Korpi's contract is unrealistic given the term left and having Celebrini is worthless unless the team has good goaltending. It also is a slightly easier pill to swallow given the sens have Stu, Norris (hopefully) Pinto, and Grieg as C depth. If the deal comes with an extension to Ullmark the sens immediately are in a cup winning window IMO. Also let's not forget that 18 yr olds are never guaranteed to live up to expectations, Celebrini has about the same amount of hype Laffreniere had and look where he is now, good player but i'd give him up for a bonified 1A. I wonder what people would have said if the Oilers traded 1st overall in the Yakupov year for someone like Rask/Fleury, how many cups would they have right now...

I love Chychrun but he doesn't really fit this team based on the fact he can't play the right side like we thought. Geekie is also not just a throw-in player, he is going to put up 40+ points this year, and has good size, at the very least he is and elite 4th liner, great 3rd liner.
