I’m not against trading Anderson for Vlasic but I’m totally against buying anyone out. Have people not learned from the Wild?

Also, massive overpay on Kakko’s and Xhekaj’s contacts

Strange comparison to try to make. Those are two very unique buyouts that are clogging up their ability to progress and a Vlasic buyout wouldn't cause anything close to that level of problem.

4m less the first year, then 5m. It’s a lot. Also, paying him for 2 years after that when we will have Slaf and Guhle on new deals hurt a lot

Flames will offer you a 3rd for Harris. Not a top 45 pick

In comparison to 7mil both of those years so you save 3.2mil and 2.2mil at the cost of 2.6mil over the following 2 years. If you're pushing to make the playoffs next year, that strikes me as the preferable alternative.

How the heck is Kakko worth a 1st let alone a 1st and a 2nd? 8 goals man. 8.

We aren’t pushing for the playoffs next year. We will still be a bottom team with lot of cap space, so taking 7m isn’t a problem. We want cap space the years after, when we will be competing for a cup

Calgary has no need for Harris. Conroy will be shopping for a top 4 not overpaying for a small depth defenseman.

Maybe, not a high 2nd though. We just got Okhotiuk for a 5th and he's not that far off

Actually, I think the Sharks should do the Vlasic for Anderson swap. Vlasic is blocking our D prospects from icetime, is no longer solid defensively, and is not going to score 6 goals again next season. The Sharks need bigger forwards like Anderson and we'll have room for him on our roster and in our budget when Labanc and Hoffman are gone. This is a bad contract swap that benefits both teams. Better than buyouts.

Overall it's $14 M for Vlasic and $16.5 M for Anderson so maybe the Habs should send a 3rd round pick or a B level prospect to the Sharks as well.

Vlasic hasn’t blocked any of our d prospects this season and we have shown we will just scratch him if need be. Thrun Okhotiuk and Addison have all played as much or more than they have shown to deserve and Muk they are taking their time with. Sharks have valued getting cap space open as much and as soon as possible so this move would be contrary to the rest of our rebuild plan.

Vlasic buyout would be heavy for the first couple seasons but Habs have the cap then it’s completely manageable for the following couple of seasons.

Kakko contract is actually quite in line with the Dach and Newhook deals so I don’t see how that is unreasonable while yeah that’s a lot to give Xhekaj but I believe in his potential so I don’t think it’s a bad investment to get him locked up for his entire prime.

Where Calgary is in the standings and how they’re playing, that second is most likely a mid second.

Quite in line with what Hughes payed to get Newhook. And Kakko is better than 8 goals, just having a rough season, at least he’s solid defensively even when he’s not scoring.

How they're playing? Beating a team as bad as the Habs isn't hard. Sure they had a great comeback vs Vegas but they cot obliterated in the 3 games before that

We don’t need to make space now. Having 1,5m in 2 years will hurt more than 7m now and next season

Kakko has been bad. Seriously awful. He wouldn’t get the money we paid for Dach and Newhook

Also, even in his prime, Xhekaj will never be worth 4m. Maybe 3,5m, but not 4
