straight up i think dubas says no, but this is the first logical anderson trade ive seen on this site, add a owen beck and something else and its a yes imo, dubas will find an ex second rounder that he likes

i dont follow either of those teams, but after the big trade that went down with the pens, i can see dubas doing this swap to get younger prospects that he likes to compensate the talent difference in the trade. owen beck or someone similar with another prospect for sure happens. dubas is trying to refill his cupboards, if he can do that while gaining a roster player who could have a positive impact he will do it 100%

Beck is not available. Maybe more a prospect like Kidney or Farrell is more realistic for a trade.

Habs aren't adding, it would be the Pens who add just given that Rakell's contract is 1 year longer. Habs would be looking for a 2nd from the Pens to compensate for the extra year

Maybe build something with adding Poulin in the deal and sending Farrell or Kidney away.

i doubt that, if anything its even since the pts production youll get from anderson is lower, but like i said i dont follow these teams. i think dubas who went for bunting would be happy with anderson esp if he gets a sweetener from it

Habs aren't gonna be the ones adding, if both players were on a similar length contract then the deal would be 1 for 1 with nothing added but since Rakell has an extra year, the Pens need to add the 2nd round pick to even out the deal

I don't think Habs add anything, Poulin makes up for the contract difference, so deal should be Rakell + Poulin for Anderson. However with that said, Habs likely aren't interested in adding that extra year, they would like to get Anderson off the books sooner not effectively add more term to his contract

Rakell is better offensively, better defensively, and cheaper than Anderson. That more than makes up for the extra year of term

Montreal would be adding because Rakell is actually somewhat useful. He also did just put up 60 points last season so it’s not like it’s been a long time since he’s produced like a legitimate top 6 player

Anderson isn’t worth the $5M. He may play a likeable game but he’s a big time cap dump. He doesn’t put up any kind of production that says otherwise. Rakell meanwhile still is a better player in my opinion. There’s no reason for Pittsburgh to add

MTL isn't rebuilding with an older player with longer term.

PIT isn't getting anything they want, which is immediate roster improvement or NHL ready prospects.

I've seen this trade at least 5 times here already and it's not a good fit for either teams.

MTL would not trade Anderson vs Rakell 1 for 1
Rakell is older and doesn’t play a gritty game like Anderson
Anderson is a leader as well in the locker room

rakell > anderson by a mile.

anderson lacks finishing and seems lost.

rakell can actually skate and has a good shot.

he has found his game recently too compared to earlier in the season before he got injured.
