No way anyone gives a 3rd for Atkinson and Cates is a good young defensive forward, there's no need to trade him for a 2nd.

Also they shouldn't be going after big name UFA's this summer.

Not sure the Leafs would want Johanson even a 2m, but it's a good thought/
That's way too much term and $$$ too for the current and future edition of Pesce.

While it is tempting I really dont want that contract.

Like Johansen had a great start then just fell off a bridge and never recovered

Even at 2m does not sit well

If he’s injured, maybe after the summer he’s a little bit better, and it is a low risk move by the leafs. Worst case scenario send him to like Chicago with like a 6th for them to throw him in the minors.

Still don’t like the fit in Toronto, but it is low risk

It kind of actually has mid to high risk as 2m is still not cheap for a player and u cant scratch them easily when they underperforming like u can with a league man guy in Gregor
