Based on Katlsson’s recent comments to the media and the fact he has an NMC, it sounds like he has zero interest in accepting a trade back to Ottawa.

considering the headline was just "would this trade work", I really don't see why everybody is acting like Mendes is going full Methot with like "just trade for him!!!" or whatever

For all intents and purposes, it looks like the Canes will just run 3 goalies next season, between PK, Freddie, and now Martin.

What is the OTT ownership like now? Are they potentially interested in trading Norris if they think he might never be healthy again? Not even sure on how contract insurance works with Norris either.

what a top 4 man in his prime is worth, OTT will not trade him as a rental, if they don't get fair value they will re-sign him.

A 1st, a 2nd and an NHL defensmen is a good return, especially with one year left. It's essentially what you traded for him

OTT traded 12th oa and 2x2nd, a late first a 2nd and a 3rd pairing dman that might not even be better than OTT already has is not even close to that value, and again OTT will not be trading him, if they do, as a rental thus no value lost.

You didn't know what the pick was when you traded it. There were also conditions on several picks. An actual nhl player is about as, if not more valuable than a 2nd round pick.

Also, he had more term when you traded for him

his current term is irrelevant in a trade, for the THIRD DAM TIME he wont be traded as a rental, in case you are ignorant fo what that means, it means he will sign with the team that gets him. Lauzon is not worth a 2nd, just because he is a "NHL Dman" don't mean he has a ton of value.

Always a sign of a good argument when you need to personally insult the other person.

What about a package centered around Karlsson to OTT for Korpisalo and Chabot for PIT?

Chabot is not someone we're looking to move as of right now.

But if there's a trade based on such a package that you'd like to post in AGM, I'll take a look at it.

Currently, the Ottawa Senators are a poorly constructed team.

As of right now, we have 4 puck-moving NHL-quality Left Shot Ds (Sanderson + Chabot + Chychrun + Brannstrom).

We definitely need to move 1 out, quite possibly 2 (most likely Brannstrom, then Chychrun).

Then we need a Top 4 right shot D that is ...

          >>>> sound defensively

          >>>> can block shots

I don't think Karlsson fits the description of what we're looking for.

IMO, if we're bringing him back, it will be from signing him as a UFA in 2027.

When Brannstrom, Chychrun and maybe even Chabot will be long gone.

Based on Katlsson’s recent comments to the media and the fact he has an NMC, it sounds like he has zero interest in accepting a trade back to Ottawa.

Well he straight-up mocked Canadian hockey media, so clearly he wasn’t just trying to skirt the question.
