Exactly why do you think that Colorado traded for Casey Mittelstadt?!?

Talk about closing the barn door . . .

Avs aren't trading Mitts.

They gave up a stud in Byram to get him.

I mean... Why is Colorado moving Mittelstadt after they literally just traded a recent Top 5 pick for him?

Raise your hand if you told Wings fans that JTC was not a 2C?

Compher is fine as a 2C. He's **** as a 1C, which is what he's had to play as for around ~15 games this season while Larkin's been out.

I think Red Wings fans knew Compher wasn't a 2C.

Just like they knew Copp wasn't one either.

But Holland left this team with literally Zero C depth that Yzerman was desperate to add anyone decent to fill the void.

He's since drafted Kasper and Danielson so Copp and Compher are place holders.

Compher's sister might be a better hockey player than he is. LOL

No offense to Compher.

He doesn't hurt the Red Wings at all.

Not that I agree with the trade or this Joker of a poster but.......

As I quote you

I read it thanks but in all reality it's a) not going to happen, b) they (Avs) can't plan on Landy not returning, c) Buffalo likely have no interest in trading Mitts, d) the return isn't a piece Buffalo need, e) banking on flipping Byram for one they do need is a huge gamble, f) the Avs likely still couldn't afford Mitts and g) the Avs can't afford Mitts.

My take is Colorado can't afford Mitts so that's why the Avs do this.

That was your comment from my proposed Byram - Mittelstadt trade.

And I've admitted I was wrong in numerous places on the Buffalo deal. I'm more than happy to own that one (unlike at least one Buffalo fan who shall remain nameless) but.......Your point is?

The second point still stands, the third was as it stood at the time according to the words of the Sabres management (and also partly accounts for #1, going into depth repeatedly on the plethora of Mitts posts at the time was getting boring), the fourth is still true and puzzling - Byram wasn't a need for the Sabres, the fifth is still true, the sixth and seventh.....well....the Avs now HAVE TO find a way to afford Mitts or that ends up a terrible trade for them (unless they flip Mitts elsewhere as in this trade of course - highly unlikely). Again, logically at that point the Avs couldn't afford to re-sign him. Now they've moved Byram's cap out and almost certainly have to move out another player to do so (unless Landy isn't back, which...again.....the Avs can't bank on). That's why the Avs simply don't do this. The return is also bad is the other reason. If they were really serious about flipping him they'll want a good return, and that ain't it!

JTC isn't a 2C; the only way the Avs won the Cup is because they had him playing 3C while Kadri played 2C. They didn't do nearly as well the following year with JTC as a 2C which is why they didn't pay to keep him. He gets some decent stats but he isn't a play-driver and doesn't make the players around him better.

K.

Did you actually think Detroit was signing JT with some idea that they were going to be a contender and he was gonna be the 2C for said contender?
