ROUND 1TEAMORIGINALPLAYERDETAILS
1Logo of the Chicago Blackhawks-
Macklin Celebrini
CHI pick
2Logo of the Anaheim Ducks-
Artyom Levshunov
SJS pick. With the bad state of their defense I won't be surprised if they take Levshunov at this pick. They need F as well but they'll get that with the other pick they have
3Logo of the Columbus Blue Jackets-
Ivan Demidov
MTL pick. ANA trades pick 3, Brayden Tracey to MTL for pick 6, Sean Farrell, Filip Mesar, Adam Engstrom. There's no reason for MTL not to fill out their top six with a selection like this
4Logo of the San Jose Sharks-
Berkly Catton
CBJ pick. This would be an interesting selection, because Catton is putting up ridiculous numbers in the WHL. They may not want to risk picking Lindstrom with his injury
5Logo of the Montreal Canadiens-
Zayne Parekh
ARZ pick. They need defense
6Logo of the Arizona Coyotes-
Cole Eiserman
ANA pick. They decide if they're going to trade down, they're going to make a risky pick at 6. Eiserman is good, but all he can do is score. He'd have to be put with a playmaker and a defensively responsible player to succeed - which could work if he's with Carlsson and someone else
7Logo of the Philadelphia Flyers-
Cayden Lindstrom
PIT pick. OTT trades pick 7 to PIT for pick 9, Valtteri Puustinen, Ville Koivunen, Emil Jarventie. They get their successor to Crosby with this pick
8Logo of the Washington Capitals-
Anton Silayev
BUF pick. Feel like they're either going with most upside or safest pick. No in between. I'll give them highest upside here
9Logo of the Detroit Red Wings-
Carter Yakemchuk
OTT pick. They don't have right shot defensemen, so they reach (a bit) for this guy
10Logo of the St. Louis Blues-
Konsta Helenius
NJD pick. I think if they're not giving Holtz a fair shot, and they aren't sure about Mercer, they're missing a player or two in their top six (Meier, Hischier, Hughes, Bratt, Mercer/Holtz), so they should go with a F. Safe pick here would be Helenius
11Logo of the Vancouver Canucks-
Sam Dickinson
STL pick. They would do good getting a steal of a pick here
12Logo of the Arizona CoyotesLogo of the Ottawa Senators
Tij Iginla
CGY pick. Not even gonna explain this
13Logo of the Buffalo Sabres-
Zeev Buium
SEA pick. Future defense looks depressing without Dunn
14Logo of the Pittsburgh Penguins-
Liam Greentree
OTT pick. MIN trades pick 14 to OTT for pick 27, Erik Brannstrom, 2024 DET 4th, 2024 TBL 4th. Sens could use some offensive help on the wings
15Logo of the Nashville Predators-
Trevor Connelly
NYI pick. Probably could use forwards cuz their top six is full of old men (Nelson, Lee, Palmieri). Wonder if they would pick a controversial player like him
16Logo of the Calgary Flames-
Nikita Artamonov
WSH pick. Team's getting older. Need forwards to take over at some point.
17Logo of the Detroit Red WingsLogo of the New York Islanders
Michael BrandseggNygard
DET pick. BPA (probably)
18Logo of the Winnipeg Jets-
Adam Jiricek
CHI pick. They take a risk on a guy who's been injured
19Logo of the Chicago BlackhawksLogo of the Tampa Bay Lightning
Sacha Boisvert
PHI pick
20Logo of the Seattle Kraken-
Igor Chernyshov
LAK pick
21Logo of the Minnesota Wild-
Aron Kiviharju
BUF pick. NSH trades pick 21 and Jesse Kiiskinen to BUF for Noah Ostlund
22Logo of the Philadelphia FlyersLogo of the Los Angeles Kings
Terik Parascak
ANA pick
23Logo of the New York Rangers-
Cole Hutson
TOR pick
24Logo of the Nashville PredatorsLogo of the Edmonton Oilers
Ryder Ritchie
COL pick
25Logo of the St. Louis BluesLogo of the Toronto Maple Leafs
Luke Misa
CAR pick
26Logo of the San Jose SharksLogo of the New Jersey Devils
Tanner Howe
MTL pick
27Logo of the Colorado Avalanche-
Andrew Basha
MIN pick
28Logo of the Toronto Maple LeafsLogo of the Boston Bruins
Henry Mews
CGY pick
29Logo of the St. Louis BluesLogo of the Dallas Stars
Matvei Shuravin
NYR pick
30Logo of the Carolina Hurricanes-
Beckett Sennecke
DAL pick
31Logo of the Colorado AvalancheLogo of the Florida Panthers
Matvei Gridin
PHI pick
32Logo of the Vegas Golden Knights-
Michael Hage
VGK pick

Mtl trading up for demidov after passion on michkov would be such a ridiculous thing. ( in my opinion)

But hughes has been a very short sighted GMs when in comes to drafting, so you never know!

not saying im against it, would judt be so weird.

I don't really see why Anaheim or Pittsburgh do their respective trades

I think for Michkov it came down to a personality thing. Some footage came out post draft that Habs fans speculate was discussing Michkov, so there were scouts in the room rooting for him. But Hughes has been trying to build an amazing culture in Montreal, to the point that he would say no to drafting a prospect based on that condition. If Demidov doesn't have the same issues I can see Montreal considering it if he's available when they pick.

In what way has Hughes been short sighted in his drafting? Genuine question as I don't know what pick you are referring to.

i guess if its an attitude thing it can make sense. Michkov in my book is skill wise better than any prospect in this draft. But maybe he really likes demidov, but michkov could be a franchise winger.

Short sigthed means thats he is mostly adressing immediate needs when drafting. Not a bad things in itself, but thats sort of what he did in the past 2 draft and his interviews sort of show it.

He drafted slaf to adress size in a heavy dman draft year. Drafted a Rd in a heavy foward year and this year will probably draft a foward while the best prospect available will probably be dman.

im not bashing, i really hope all those moves pays off!

I think Demidov will gonna be way better than Michkov, especially because Demidov didn't really have right now somes reports that he haved somes attitude problems.

attitude is overblown. Kucherov has attitude problem and is one of the best in the league.

Michkov is twice the player demidov is.

Kucherov didn't have any attitude problem, he is a leader in the locker room and with his teamates. He is just don't courteous in somes specifics situations (ex : the All-Star Games, bashing Habs fans for no reason, etc.).

And just look the stats of Demidov in the MHL and Michkov stats in the MHL.

michkov was playing pro hockey in his draft year (vhl and khl) while demidov is still in the minors. (mhl)

thats like comparing ohl stats with nhl or ahl

Calling the man that drafted Slafkovsky and Hutson in his first ever draft, "short sighted" is... interesting to say the least, even Reinbacher is the opposite of a shortsighted move, a shortsighted move would be drafting someone for position and rush them up this year, whether you agree with the pick or not, the goal of the Reinbacher pick was to swing for something that every team wants but not many have, a huge top pairing right shot defencemen who can shut down NHL rushes and transition the puck out of the zone.

An example of what they want out of Reinbacher is something like Brock Faber, Faber's best ability is to get the puck off the back wall efficiently for an quick zone exit and rush attack, putting the other team on the backfoot. Turning defence into offence, the way they both go about it is similar, so it makes sense that MTL will try to develop Reinbacher like him.

Slaf was rushes in the nhl for sure.

Every teams wants their players to turn into star like faber so im not sure what you are getting at beside stating the obvious.

I explained in a later post what i meant by shortsighted. (drafting for needs when there could be better available players, the picks he used to trade for dach and newhook)

Shortsighted might not be bad, so dont take it in a harmful way, he chose a strategy and we'll see what it turns out into in a few years.
