I don't see the Canes taking that in consideration, maybe need to add a little bit.

Top 12 pick in the draft, Former first round pick who should be ready to play in NHL next year and top 6 RHD. For a guy on pace for 60pts and looking for a long term deal? Yeah I would say that is more then enough.

Clifton is of no interest. Rosen and a 1st is a start, but it's still a long way short. There's nothing here that gives the Canes a reason to consider moving Necas

When I talk about add a little bit, it's like adding a 3rd round pick in the offer.

Rosen's stock has dropped, the pick is nice but Carolina would want immediate roster help. This doesn't do that

I think the Canes would want more of a known quantity than Rosen if they trade Necas. He had a good WJC last year but his numbers in the AHL aren't earth shattering, and his few games in the NHL this year didn't wow. The first is interesting insofar as it could be used to trade elsewhere, but with this draft class looking pretty weak I don't think the Canes want to give up an RFA scoring winger for a player that is likely 3+ years away. Clifton just isn't interesting.

That makes no sense for the Canes.

Rosen's stock has dropped

Biased on what exactly?
He’s been developing nicely for us, having a good season in AHL- his first in N.America

I don’t see why his value would’ve dropped at all
Might have even gone up for some

This is his second season in North America, and he's still not scoring at a great rate in the AHL. Already 21, so that developmental upside is dwindling, and his NHL stint was barron. He struggled in Sweden before moving across too.

He’s still moving at an upwards trajectory
Not saying he’s gonna be a top line guy, but he certainly has middle6 talent for sure, with 2nd line upside.
Maybe we have different expectations?

He’s been doing great in AHL this season & was scoring at a high rate in the first half of the season. It’s dropped off (imo) bc he’s being given more responsibility in the defensive end & working to round out his game.

Sabres need better 2way play from our forwards, so they’re emphasizing it at the AHL level

U don’t like him? That’s fine
But i disagree with your assessment
Judging a guy by the scoresheet without any context just doesn’t make sense to me

Its the SHL, he was getting like 3 mins a night lol. I agree the deal value is well short but the assessment of Rosen is absent meaningful context. He's solid.

I didn't mean he's valueless. But there's no denying his stock has dropped from his draft day. Limited playing time explains the stats, I get that, but at the end of the day, if he was playing better he'd have gotten more ice time too. He's still young enough to not consider him anything less than a good prospect, but he's not in the same boat as Kulich or Benson was my point here, both of who were also solid 1st round picks

yeah no argument there, was never going to be as good as kulich/benson. I think in general though the SHL is far less likely to give you ice time if youre a u-20 which he was. Ostlund had a similar problem and then ppl wondered why after his WJs.

Its why NHL teams are so hot to get their euro prospects to cross the atlantic ASAP. If nothing else, just to give them more ice time.
