If Swayman gets offer sheeted next year

Created by: Hckeydude123
Team: 2024-25 Los Angeles Kings
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 20, 2024
Published: Mar. 20, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If Boston matched the offer sheet that would leave them with around 14m in cap space to sign a true #1 center, a top 6 winger, 2 or 3 bottom 6 guys and at least one top 4 LHD as well as a back up goal tender. If someone were to offer sheet Swayman like could the B's be in big trouble?

By the way as a Kings fan I don't see the Kings doing this just wanted to see what it could look like.

Boston is going to sign Swayman to a long term contract and has cap room to manage an offer sheet. Seriously doubt he signs a one year contract.

Is Byfield at risk of getting an offer sheet?

You dont think anyone will try to offer sheet him? He's had 3 great seasons with Boston, it would be crazy to think a team wouldn't offer sheet him.

Boston Is talking about a 6 year 7m extension. You think 1-Sway signs that? 2-B’s don’t match? 🙄

Unwritten rule, owners don't want to self spike rfa contracts.

Every GM thread i've seen on here has been somewhere between 6m and 7m so not really sure what they are planning on paying him.

ya man, but you're doing an offersheet. an offersheet can't be a normal contract. then the team owning the players rights thanks you for negotiating for them and signs it. Posters talk about why offersheets aren't done. It isn't because theres some code, it's because you essentially have to overpay the player like crazy. $8M a year, boston matches without a thought. $8.5M? They probably start to think about it. $9M? they think about it, but personally I think they still match. If you want to make a serious post about offersheeting swayman, do one for 7x10, and explain why it makes sense for the kings to do it.

Also, fair bet that given the trade talks for Ullmark, the bruins are exceedingly confident they'll be signing swayman long term. it only makes sense.

Bruins have enough cap space to match any offer sheet someone throws at him, if someone wanted to offer sheet him the time to do it was last summer when the Bruins had like negative space.

It's highly unlikely that Swayman is still unsigned by the time players are eligible to sign offer sheets.
