Quoting: Mediumyeet
How is it random? Top 4 RHD with salary retention, 1st round pick that will be in the teens, young goalie with starter potential, bottom 6 player with grit that plays the Nashville style.
This is a strong offer.
It's random, in that it doesn't address any of NSH's needs (defence prospects - RDs specifically - and /or a young center). It's just a collection of pieces the OP doesn't mind parting with, in hopes it adds up to appropriate value.
The 1st is a good start, but I don't see NSH getting excited about anything else here.
Schmid doesn't hold much value for them, when they already have a higher ceiling, star prospect in net.
4th liners are a dime a dozen, without a lot of trade value. If Trotz needs another one to plug a hole somewhere, he can just grab a guy off waivers like he usually does. Like how NJ acquired Bastian in the first place.
Marino could be an option if NSH can't come to terms with Carrier, but re-signing Carrier would still be preferable.
If Marino, a mid 1st, and some roster filler is the best offer Trotz can get for his best player, he shouldn't be trading his best player.
