Hawks decline both trades. They don't need the oft-injured Timmins, or Kampf (and his contract) back, at all - let alone pay a 3rd round pick for them.

And they don't need Reaves. If TOR offered a pick the Hawks might take him, and promptly buy him out. Which is what TOR should do: buy him out and keep the pick.

Actually burying him in the minors would end up being cheaper than a buyout.

Roy and maybe even Carrier don't sign those contracts.
Leafs are going to have to save cap by not resigning Samsonov. 20 man rosters and no 7th NHL Dman is totally impractical.
Kinda crazy to get rid of Timmins, who doesn't affect the cap if demoted. Really shouldn't get rid of Kampf either. The Leafs need more than four NHL centres.

As stated, Hawks decline both trades. Kampf's contract takes a 2nd to dump. Leafs can keep Timmins. And Hawks probably don't take Reaves in any sort of deal. He'd have no useful role on the Hawks.

Hawks still say no regardless of how you read it, both trades are just horrible for Chicago.

Whoops, you're right - I read it wrong... I'd still decline, though. Hawks have no interest in those players and/or Kamph's contract.

Yeah. I caught that too. Regardless, that is a lot of cap being dumped on CHI, a 3rd is not enough to pay for it, let alone Reaves as well. As @sens65 said, just bury them. Though, Kampf is another story. You might just want to buy him out or bite the bullet and pay someone to take him. And no, a 3rd isn't even enough to take his contract alone.

its not a matter of wanting the player, but rather the pic (a 3rd) to help them hit the cap floor and wasnt he a Chi player originally (I could be wrong), his FO skills would be an upgrade from the centers they have although he doesnt provide much else
Timmins would thrive on 1st PP with Bedard..
at least that was my logic.
all trades aside my main question was what do Roy and Carrier command in FA market? any ideas

Roy is gonna have lots of options. If this Michigan boy moves east, the Wings and Sabres need RHD and have cap.
Probably 5.5m, but I'd be wary of even a five year contract to a 30 year old
Carrier and Walker might be interesting, although they aren't physical guy, but certainly over 4m.

Agree with you about Brodie. He seems to hit the wall. One reason I really don't think it's unwise to be giving players especially Dmen long term contracts going into the mid 30s. We have seen it in Brodie, Holl and even Leafs centre Tavares. Gee think there may be shorter term Dmen available.
