I'm very curious what makes you think Montreal wants to make that deal, seriously, what's the logic there?

Calgary tells Montreal we'll swap the picks but you keep your rejects and we'll keep Huberdeau.

The Philly trade makes no sense at all for Calgary. Calgary already turned down Johansen + a late 1st for Tanev from Colorado, they aren't going to take him now. Nor will they want 31 year Couturier and his 7.75 mil AAV contract 6 more years left on it. Kadri gets paid less only has 5 more years left on his contract and is having a better season too.

Not when we're giving up the best player in the deal even if he is overpaid. Gallagher is terrible now and the other two aren't players Calgary has any interest in.

Because unlike you I actually know the team, what they need, what they don't need and I pay attention to what the GM has been saying and doing too.

The Flames are pretty much set on D now other than maybe bringing in a proven top 4. They don't need another bottom pair defenseman who's small, wouldn't make the NHL roster, is way overpaid to bury in the AHL and isn't even waiver protected if for some reason they actually did want him on the Wranglers.

Heinemann... The very last thing the Flames need is yet another not very good left shot winger prospect. Bonehead Brad drafted way too many left shot wingers, Conroy is trying to fix that problem, he's not going to make it even worse.

Both Montreal players are pending RFAs too not very good ones and don't fit Calgary's needs.

Conroy has been drafting and trading for size not undersized depth defensemen and picking up a lot of Russians / Belarusians not more Swedes. Lot of little players and Swedes was Bonehead Brad, Conroy isn't going to do the same.

Flames decline the Habs trade. There is a very high chance Montreal gets Florida's 1st anyways

So Flyers are saving 2.25 million in exchange for potentially moving back a few spots in this draft and losing a few years on one contract and gaining years on another in this swap?

They aren't in some cap crunch in the near future where they need to shed contracts, they easily pass on this deal and just trade Johansen for anything in the off season. They are still rebuilding regardless of the standings, they still want to get draft capital and younger prospects, not a weird cap shed deal.

I thought the strangest part of the post, was the signing of Hanifan as a UFA. Shirley,, Reinhart can find a "happier" place than the Flames.

Jonathan Hubderdeau is by far the worst contract in hockey.

10.5 mill on a player who isn't worth 6 mill TODAY, until he's 38. 5 1sts minimum to dump that albatross
