MTL wouldn’t do it
We have so many draft picks, I would rather keep Kovacevic than a 3rd & 5th round pick

Montreal has a ton of D depth also. 3rd + 5th seems very reasonable for a guy like Kovy. You have like 10+ NHL dmen for next year. How do you recommend they manage that?

MTL :
- Matheson
- Guhle
- Savard
- Xhekaj
- Harris
- Kovacevic
- Barron

AHL :
- Hutson
- Reinbacher
- Mailloux
- Trudeau
- Engstrom

Bonus : Jayden Struble, waivers exempt, could either start in Laval or MTL

If no injuries, they can start Struble in Laval

I still think it would be in their best interest to unload 1 or 2 of them. Give more opportunity to the ones they keep. I think Montreal should package a few of their prospects and picks for young stars. We will see what they do! They are in a good spot regardless.

Habs are not moving D-man - Kent Hughes.

We are not moving any of them until next TDL or major offer.

When did Kent Hughes say this? I would not be shocked to see Savard and/or Matheson get traded in the offseaon. And/Or a young guy or 2 be packaged for a young star.

I can see him saying "we are not looking at trading a D" but him saying "we are not moving a D-man" really doesn't sound like something he would say,

Savard is a leader for that young Montreal Blueline.

If he was going to be traded it would've been at the trade deadline.

They probably could've traded Savard at the trade deadline but obviously they didn't get a good enough offer.

They're certainly not trading him to the Leafs for a bag of Lays chips.

Montreal has another retention slot opening up this offseason. Savard will have more value then but it would need to be a good deal.

And who is trading Savard to the Leafs for a bag of chips? This AGM is the Leafs trading for Kovacevic.

Because you wouldn't have mentioned Savard if you didn't hope/wish/envision the Leafs getting him for a bag of chips

Just like you had Seattle giving Larsson to the Leafs for a rental price when he's not even a rental.

Until next season that is when Larsson is a rental.

I can only imagine the ham sandwich you'll offer Seattle then. LOL

It's always the same with you.

Trying to get the Leafs good players but not paying a fair price.

When a Habs fan tells you that Savard isn't being traded and provides a source, you don't want to hear it.

I don’t think a 1st + one of (Harris/Struble/Barron) land you a top 6 forward … I think it’s possible one dman will get moved, just not for a young star forward

Kovacevic is a pending UFA and it makes no sense to target a third pair guy

Benoit will be third pair here

Leafs wouldn't give Benoit that amount unless he is playing top 6.

Kovacevic is huge and he is a right shot RD making less than league minimum. He will either be our 7th or 8th D. Good cheep depth option. Benoit is a LD.

The D group can be shifted in ALOT of different ways. I just went with 4 LD and 4 RD.

We dont need to go pay for that though when we have Rafai or Timmins. That's not cheap either as paying those assets for a guy whose gonna sit in the pressbox = NTU

0 need to spend assets on depth Dman. This FA has some good RD options

Demelo, Roy, Pesce. 2 of those are perfect
